Does it happen all the time? Mine has an intermittent rattle coming from the general area you describe as well. It only occurs when the passenger seat is unoccupied. When it starts I move the seat a bit and it goes away.

it does it most of the time. It doesn't seem to matter if someone is in the passenger seat. It has been nice enough weather wise the last two days i've had the windows down and music turned up so i am not hearing it. But the heat will be back in a couple days so i'll have to start opening up the console to see whats in there.

Old thread but I have this problem currently ongoing as well and it is driving me nuts.

I have been trying to trouble shooting this and based on my anecdotal testing only, I am 90% sure the rattle is from the button or the plastic catch used to open/secure the top part of the folding worktop.

I believe the plastic mechanisms are too light or there is too much play/looseness causing the rattle. If I rest my elbow/arm right over top of that spot, the rattle stops and opening the worktop slightly and disengaging the mechanism also solves the problem for me. I'm trying to find a clever way to 'snug up' the connection point to hopefully solve the issue.

I am open to suggestions or ideas.

I stuffed some foam down in this area and no more rattle, the paper towel was just used for testing.
