Estimating the amount of energy left in the battery is not an exact science. A jump or drop of up to 2-3% is not something I worry about. I often see a drop of 2-3% in the low 60% SoC range, something about that region the BMS struggles with. But it doesn't make a difference on how much energy I put back into the battery at the end of the day.

For the MME we have a HV Battery Calibration Procedure tutorial on the forum. Do you guys do anything like that on the Lightning?
I don't think that is necessary, all it will do is maybe adjust the guess-o-meter's estimate...I think it is best to just ignore the range estimate and concentrate on the SOC kWh remaining and your mi/kWh.

It is imo putting unneeded stress on the battery to go down to 10% and up to 100%.

Stick with what works for you and the Ford recommendation of charging to 90% most of the time, only to 100% for a long trip.

PS: slow charging with give the BMS more time to make a better estimate, so lower the current to whatever gives you sufficient range for your use.

I got antsy that something was happening with my truck, so I plugged in the scanner and watched the values. When I unplug, its 90, then I drive a few minutes and its up to 92 or 93. The "kWh remaining" stays the same, so it seems to be an algorithm thing. I did notice that my max charge kWh has risen to 136.8 from 131.2, so maybe it has something to do with that? I don't know. All I am seeing is that the computer is trying to estimate the remaining energy and isn't doing a consistent job of it.

Mine did it again this morning too and it’s been consistently cold (under 30F). Parked last night at 89% and when driving a few mins this morning it was 91%.

I came here to make this post. In the last few months, I'd charge to 80%, and on my way up the hill out of my subdivision, I am at 82%.

I tried to calibrate my battery by fully charging to 100% and dropping it quite low, but the issue persists.

Mine does the same thing, primarily on cold nights. Charge to 90%, bumps up to 91% or sometimes 92% when I set departure times and it preconditions.

I don’t think it’s an issue. I always thought that as the battery gets to temp from being cold, the efficiency in the cells improves leading to the marginal improvement in battery percentage that is a few kWh in %/range. In my mind harmless. Due to the amount of driving I do, I charge to 100% 1x/wk and 90% 6x/wk without issue. 4 months of owning the Lightning like that, OBDScan shows cells still at 97% from a 2022 XLT SR at over 56000 miles.
