Yeah, the file is formatted XML so can be a pain to read normally. I created a macro in Excel that will decode an ab file and let me see F188 values for all the VINs in my database. If I wasn't lazy I would try to make a program like As Built Explorer that would show that.

I mainly look and compare the F188 parameter as that seems to correspond to the "software version". Do you have a cheat sheet on what the other Fxxx numbers are? Are they just version numbers of other configuration files that get loaded (side-loaded) or does one of them represent the hardware part number?
Tbh, I have never used the ab data to try an obtain a p/n. To me, the info there looks like the file names and not the p/n. If someone really wanted to, I think the easiest way would be to just pony up the $28 to by a 3 day pass for PTS and you can easily obtain the p/n for any vehicle that way.

None of the F codes corresponds to anything printed on my parts.

I have a hard time finding PTS and any way to throw money at it.

I believe it is here:

https://www.motorcraftservice.com/Purchase/ViewProduct?FCSNumber=FCS-AVL-WEB&termID=3

Once you type the VIN in PTS, you hover over the "Diagnsotics" tab and then click on "Vehicle Software". That screen will show you all the modules on the network, which ones have pending updates, the strategy each one is on, the p/n and the engineering p/n. I used to be able to see all this stuff with my PTS account but my access was limited by Ford due to my login being for a sales job role and not service.

Great, it worked. Made this table compared to a US 2023 Lariat.

The HW pn for the Sync is unlike anything else, HW Part No: NU5T-14G681-LB
Version SYNC4 v4.0.22326.

Latest Status: No OTA History Available For This VIN. No OTA Currently In Process. There have been no OTA update attempts on the vehicle in the last 180 days.

Both the US Lightning and the Europe uses MU5T-14G681, that is the same for some of the modules under as well, the first letter is different.

Maybe a tech can install a US Sync version? I don't need navigation in the Sync.

It doesn't work that way. Does your truck show any pending updates for the APIM, GWM, TCU and/or IPC?

No, not those modules. But a lot of other modules as shown in the table above :)

What Sync version is the truck on now?

My concern is that according to the OP, the TCU is not the original one your truck came with. If that is the case, there is a possibility that if the incorrect TCU was installed, it created a problem for future updates to be able to be installed on your truck since those modules I mentioned have to be installed in a sequence.

The other possibility is that your truck is as updated as much as it can be in terms of the Sync modules based on what Ford has available for you at this time. Unfortunately, I do not have to knowledge to tell you if your truck has an issue or not.

Oh, I though that was the other truck. You could be affected by the attached SSM Ford sent to dealers, or there could be some back-end issues due to the TCU that is in your truck. I have no way of knowing which applies to your truck.

Since you have PTS and access to vehicle history, I would look through warranty history to see if it shows any mention of a dealer swapping out the TCU for some reason. If that is the case, as long as they programmed it correctly, you should be ok.

I bought it new 4. july this year. They switched the TCU 15. sept this year to make it go online here in Europe. The original TCU was disconnected when they converted it to Euro spec in Germany before selling it here.

The onboard charger is from an E-Transit. They have enabled DAB somehow, maybe switched a part. I am tryning to figure out what changes were made in Germany. The SYNC was probably installed in Germany as well, in 2023. No updates have been applied since. They did the BMS and a rear camera fix when I bought it.

Who switched out the TCU? A dealer or a third party vendor?

Found a history log from the TCU install:

Upon vehicle inspection, a network test was initiated, followed by a series of module software updates, configurations, and resets. A software update was performed on the Gateway Module A (GWM) using a USB device, followed by a configuration of the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM). A Programmable Module Installation (PMI) was then carried out for the Telematics Control Unit (TCU), indicating a new module was installed, which was also updated via USB. Subsequently, resets were performed on both the APIM and the GWM. An initial attempt to reset the Battery Monitoring Sensor learned values resulted in a configuration failure, but a second attempt was completed successfully. Additional software updates were then executed for the Front Hatch Control Module (FHCM), Image Processing Module A (IPMA), and the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM). The IPMA was then configured post-update. No pinpoint test steps such as A1 or AA1 were performed during this repair sequence. A final self-test was conducted, which resulted in a "Pass" status for all modules, confirming no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) were present after the repairs were completed.

In that case, I don't see anything to be concerned about. You just need to wait for Ford to release more updates for your truck before you can get further along the process in terms of where you stand in your Sync version.
