"Corrupted" Files Blamed for lack of OTA updates

So... my dealer has had my truck for a week now... the update I received today:

They are working with Ford engineers on the SYNC system. We have a couple vehicles here with the same concern. The software is corrupt and the new versions they are giving us will not load correctly.

Boy... this does not give me the warm fuzzies... not at all.

Swell. I've received 1.4.0 and 1.6.0, in that order. Got a notification on the app and on sync screen of a successful install. Then was notified on sync that 1.7.1 was ready - proceeded to install, but when starting the truck later got no notifications. And Apple Maps doesn't display turn-by-turn in the cluster, like the update said it would....but when I click on updates, it says 1.7.1 was installed and I'm up to date.

In a world of myriad software updates, this feels very archaic.

I had the same thing happen. About a week or two later I got a message in the fordpass app that said 1.7.1 had failed to install and that it would be attempted again. That hasn’t happened.
