Cost of Lightning Insurance

Just took delivery of my Lightning today. My insurance premium went down about $400 per year as compared to my previous car, a Mustang Mach-E Select AWD.

I've got pretty extensive coverage, including roadside assistance and even breakdown insurance (extended warranty)... For about $108 per month from Geico.

I think my family and friends are even more excited because I can stop complaining about not having my old F-150 (It broke down last June, so I haven't had a pickup in over a year).

So my agent (Allstate) just quoted me an increase of $514 every 6 months (~$85/mo.) vs. my 2017 Raptor. I have no idea why and that is a crazy number. I really like Allstate as a customer and they have always treated me right, but if they can't do significantly better, I will have to shop around - that is nuts!

Mine on State Farm was $60 increase every 6 months.

Yeah, that is much more in line with what I was expecting - especially as compared to a Raptor!

Don’t have mine yet but State Farm quoted $426 for 6 months with $500 deductibles. $144 Increase from my 2013 bmw 328i, more than my 2021 badlands as well, not bad in my opinion for an $80k EV truck.

I switch all of our insurance over to Geico and saved about $2,200 per year.

That’s interesting, and those rates are outrageous! Thank you for sharing! This is why I started this thread. I’m with State Farm and my rates are 550 for 6 months.

Thanks for the reply. That sounds like a reasonable rate. Moreover, I have similar policies, and this will be helpful when engaging my agent. I'm also hearing that it is going to cost more to ensure an EV truck.

I pay $461 per year with Erie for my Lightning XLT SR, listed as "pleasure less than 8,500 miles" This is only slightly more than my previous truck, the 2016 F150 XL supercab

I'm in CA and the difference between insurance companies it nuts.

StateFarm was over 3K per year
Farmers $3K per year
Progressive $2K per year
Costco Connect $1200 per year
GEICO $1300 per year

All with the same coverages and deductibles.

One driver, two vehicles, but the other one is a 20yr old beater with no collision/comp coverage. No multiple policy discount but adding home would usually reduce those numbers a little.
