Put basic minimum coverage (no collision) on your sons car. At what they are charging you, you can buy him another $15,000 car every 6 months. That’s crazy!
That what I have been thinking to do. It is paid for, but he now wants to buy a Maverick and I want him to have that trade in value once he goes to buy it. I may just tell him that if you get into an accident you are screwed and will have to pay for that money out of pocket.

Going from a 2022 Kia Niro EV to a Lightning Pro is gonna cost me about $600 extra per year unfortunately.

$1069/yr full coverage with $500 deductible through Safeco. Didn’t have an ICE F-150 to compare the rate to. We also have a 2018 Subaru wrx sti and that’s $947/yr same coverage and deductible

The lightning is going to be $600 more than my 2010 f150 per year with State Farm, for me.

I know insurance on Tesla vehicles is really high, but they are expensive cars with limited service centers. Was hoping since the Lightning is based on / shares many parts with the ICE F150 the rates would be reasonable. So far, is looking that way.
Insurance on my 2020 Model 3 LR is $916/yr. $250/500k, $100k property damage, $1k collision deductible, $0 comprehensive deductible via AllState in northern NJ (multi policy discount, multi car discount, etc).

My comprehensive coverage went up $8 a quarter from my 2008 Land Rover LR2 (a $4500 vehicle) to my new Lariat. I think insurance rates have more to do with ability to find parts and costs of those parts than anything else. For example, that LR2 had to have it rear window replaced a while back at $1300. An F-150 has parts readily available (not sure they are differentiating at USAA yet ;)). The parts on a bumper and a tailgate for example are a total of $1525 and parts dont ship from England.

Pro and a 2020 Honda Odyssey - $148 a month through liberty mutual. Pretty happy with this as it’s about $10 cheaper then the 2021 tacoma I had.

Surprisingly my premium decreases going from my 2018 Volt LT to the Lariat ER. Maybe all the safety tech in the vehicle helps with the premiums.

The wife and I currently have a 2021 Lariat F150 and a 2020 Edge Titanium. Citizens insurance.

I'm 48, wife is 43. Clean records. Only drivers in the household. We just renewed and our current insurance is approx $1350 a year. 250k/500k with 1k deductible.

I didn't ask them to break it down per vehicle, but I gave them my Lightning VIN and a VIN to an identical Mach-E like the wife ordered. I was told my insurance would go up approx $140 a year, about $12 a month.

The smaller the vehicle, the higher the chance of injury or death. When I got rid of my 2016 Focus and switched to an Edge that cost twice as much, my insurance went down.

We have State Farm. Both trucks have commercial plates (NY requirement on lightning because of weight)
My 2022 f150 lariat powerboost is $895 a year. I am 51 with clean driving record.
My wife’s 2022 lightning lariat ER is $850 a year. She is 37 with clean driving record.
Interesting side note. My 2020 f250 lariat tremor was at least $150 less a year. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Hope this helps.
No weight requirement for Passenger plates on pickup trucks in NY.

USAA is telling me it’ll be $40 per month more than my 2016 xlt for my Pro
USAA quoted me about $50/month more than my 2015 Lariat.
