Interesting review of how it is built. Again, the most expensive part of the vehicle that can't be repaired!!

When they are built right and solid and with the right controls little needs to be repaired.

Another reason I love the Lightning. As a true car guy and DIY type, the idea of the battery being a sealed, structural element of the vehicle is a horrifying proposition. The Lightning has absolutely had many issues with the battery pack, but none of that has to do with its design as a modular, easily removed and replaced unit and entirely to do with poor quality cells from SK.

The Lightning's design will allow these trucks to be continually modded and upgraded 20 years from now, when all "structural battery" vehicles have been long since outpaced by new battery tech or disposed of with worn out batteries that are far too difficult to replace.

Now if you never keep a vehicle more than three years, you probably don't care. But I think in general, a design the makes repair or replacement of main drive or power components damn near impossible or financially impractical, not only damages the second-hand market, it is objectively worse for the environment.

Cars, especially EVs, should not be designed to be disposable.
