We live in MN. We purchased our 2024 Flash in November with stock Dynapro AT2 tires. We found that our AWD Volvo with Michelin X-Ice winter tires had significantly better traction in icy conditions. I’m considering getting the same tires for our Lightning. This winter we anticipate taking a number of longer highway trips. The dealer also mentioned Falken Winter Peak F-Ice 1 as a more affordable option. I’d love to hear from folks who run winter tires. Which have you liked the best?

My FFE came with a set of Continental winter tires on steel rims, but two years ago when they were due for replacement at the same time we needed to get winters for the Lightning, we ended up getting Motomaster Winter Edge tires for both vehicles from Canadian Tire (a retail chain here often colloquially called "Crappy Tire"). They had a special at the time and had a 24-month interest free payment plan on their MasterCard - last payment is next month!

On my FFE, I always noticed nearly a 10% drop in range the day they were put on compared to what my Michelin Energy Saver all seasons did. With the Motomaster winters, I don't see as much a drop in range.

I can't say who makes the Winter Edge tires for them, as their tires are made by a variety of manufacturers depending on the model, including Cooper, Hankook, Michelin, BFGoodrich, and Sailun.

I agree with Divo.
Nothing else is even close to Nokian Hakkapeliitta.
And rated at 116T for the heavy Lightning.
They are pricey, but . . .
If they help you avoid an accident in the Ice and Snow, then you'll know they are worth every penny.

Firestone winterforce light truck work well for my lightning and my wife’s Tahoe. The car version worked great on my, now gone, 09 Charger RT AWD

PA winters are easier but these hooked up when we had the big storms both ice and snow

The biggest issue I see with Hakkas is the lack of empathy you'll have for other drivers.

You'll constantly have to remind yourself that everyone else pretty much slides around on bald all seasons, and just because you can drive the posted speed limit still, doesn't mean that everyone else can.

Other than that, they're great !

I would have gone with my previous car's Vredestein tires for Winter, but Vredestein does not make them in a size and load rating adequate for our Lightnings. So, I just picked up a set of very lightly used Hakkapelittas two weeks ago from a former Lightning owner.

Regretfully, I then discovered that no one AFAIK makes a set of steel wheels with the size and load rating adequate for our Lightnings... until another member here made me a good deal for a set of XLT cast takeoff wheels three days ago. I would have much preferred steelies, for all the abuse wheels get in Winter.

I bought the truck last January - and even on the OEM tires it was night-and-day better than ANY truck/winter tire combination I have ever had. -I put this down to the combination of weight on the rear, all wheel drive, smooth power and lack of transmission shifts.

Like @FirstF150InCasco suggested, I bought a set of Blizzak DMV2 on their own rims to try this winter on the Lighning. We have had great experience with this tire on our old Mazda Tribute over a number of winters. Time will tell though.

No recommendations for tires....but just got into the truck after it was parked outside...power reduced to 95%...winter is coming....last winter we just rocked the OEM Goodyear Wranglers and they were solid on the snow and ice (in town). Put Blizzaks on our other vehicle (interstate driver in winter) and they are fantastic.
