You get a discount using Tesla App?

As potato said, you get a discount if you have the Tesla subscription. It is a monthly subscription you can cancel anytime. I will subscribe before longer road trips when I know I will be hitting a supercharger 4 or 5 times. Also, you don't have to disable Plug and Charge, but a couple times I just plugged into supercharger before activating and it immediately started charging via Blue Oval Network (thus not Tesla member rate). Had to quickly cancel charge, then go into Tesla app and start charge. Sometimes there is a slight delay between ending charge and being able to start a new charge, so I just turn Plug and Charge off. It compensates for me not remembering to start charge session before plugging in.

There is a monthly subscription you can sign up for. If you are charging more than one or two full charges in a month then it's probably worth it. The catch is, if you just plug in, Plug & Charge will not give you the subscription rates. So you need to activate the charger with the Tesla app **before** plugging in.

It is not necessary to disable Plug & Charge, in theory, if you activate the charger with the Tesla app first. But if anything goes wrong with the Tesla activation, P&C may take over and you might not get the subscription discount. I think this is the reason some say you should disable Plug & Charge. But many people charge regularly using the subscription without disabling P&C, just by always activating the charger with the Tesla app first.

Exactly this. I haven’t disabled Plug & Charge; I just use the Tesla app to activate the charging pedestal and it works perfectly. Every time. I know it’s not the topic, but if EA had uptime that was even 75% of Teslas, I would be ecstatic.?

For the half dozen tesla station i have used what works for me is to park straight on, nose in, using the stall to the right of the charger. Then pull forward, trying to touch the charger with the front left corner of the truck.

This still takes up two spots, well unless you can get the right-most spot. It however doesn't look awful for idk what it is but parking at an angle just makes it look like you are trying to be rude.

I’ve charged many times at Tesla Chargers over the last year, but today was the first time for me that all stations were full. So, blocking two spots was not ideal.

I’ve had it happen to me once many months ago, but again today a Tesla driver backed down into what they thought was the open spot next to me and got out of the car to see me using the charger. I rolled down my window and explained that unfortunately I have to charge on the wrong side.

So, after that explanation, I set out a foldable orange caution triangle I keep in my truck for roadside emergencies and blocked the space next to me that appears open, but is not. I even had a different Tesla owner thank me for putting out the caution triangle to indicate that the charger was broken. I explained why I blocked the space and he still seemed to appreciate it. Next time, I’ll just say, “you’re welcome.”

So, I think that’s going to be part of my Tesla charging. I’ll pull in the spot, plug in my charger, and set out my caution triangle in the empty space to my left.

I like the idea of a cone or triangle to make it obvious that the space is not available.

I just looked, in the 3 1/2 months that I have had my Lightning, I have charged 9 times at a SuperCharger. In several cases I have used the parking space on the "wrong" side of the charger, but it was never an issue as the location had many idle stalls. In a couple locations, there were chargers that were part way back (towards the rear of the vehicle if headed in) so the charger was next to my inlet, and twice I charged as a Version 4 SuperCharger and the cable was long enough that I used the "correct" parking space. At the V4, it was really not an issue as there were close to 100 available stalls both times I was there. There were also a couple of pull through stalls specifically set up for and signed for vehicles towing trailers.

As for using the Tesla app, except for the first couple times, I have had the Tesla subscription. One good charge pays for the subscription price. I have never disabled Plug n Charge, just activate in the Tesla app first. Same thing at Electrify America (used only once, but that saved me $11.68 minus the 7.00 for the monthly subscription)..
