2024 Ford Lightning Flash 312A
Well I had a nice break in trip with my new Lightning Flash. Nothing crazy just a 330 mile trip. I made sure to do plenty of planning for charging stations. I planned for contingency charging stations as well. which was helpful as I did have to use one due to the fact that the ford navigation had me charging at a stop when I would have less than 20 miles of range. I was not comfortable with that. I mostly used Electrify America stops and 1 Tesla super charger. A big lesson learned was in Philadelphia, lots of charging stations but wow they are always full and have long lines of EV’s waiting their turn. On my way home today I averaged 1.5/kwh due to the outside temps (20 degrees) and I was going 75mph the entire way. Overall it was a great experience and I have no hesitation taking long trips in my truck. Next test will be towing my travel trailer Memorial Day weekend. Hoping to get 1.0/kwh while towing.

You should have a good experience, planning around 1.0 MPK while towing.

I retired last year and make a bi-monthly visit to Vegas. From OC California it's just under 300 miles one way. I had different contingency plans for getting juice. And have found I only need to stop 1 time with confidence.

One thing I now keep in my Lightning is a backup 12 volt battery pack. If the truck's 12 volt battery dies for any reason you will able to start the truck with it. It has a built in flashlight and phone charger. A little extra peace of mind. Another item if you are on a long trip is a 50' 120v extension cord, the level 1 charging cord is usually too short. Not that I charge much with level 1 but in a pinch it could save you.

I was on a road trip last week and found a brand new EA charging station, it was awsome, plug and charge 400kw, had me up to 80% in no time. Keep it up EA!
