Looks like Ford is high altitude testing Ranger EV around Breckenridge CO. Out here on vacation and took these today. Met another one on the way back to the house with this one behind me. We here heading toward Hoosier Pass going south out of Breckenridge. We are at about 10,000 feet, Hoosier Pass about 11,500.

It's camo'd, how could you possibly know it's a Ranger? Or a Ford?

No obvious exhaust pipe. It may have one. Or, that could be a solid cradle rear axle in the shot from behind.

You can usually tell based on design styling. I don't know the Ranger close enough tough.

If it were an electric Ranger, i'd expect them to have a light bar. But maybe I am wrong, or it's more prototype. I wish the hood were a better picture, we'd get a better idea.

Sorry, it was a joke at the fact that they camo them and yet they are still recognizable

Dude!!!! We saw that too!!! I had finally loaded my family and leaving the parking lot of the Hampton Inn in Silverthorne on Sunday. With the effort required to load the wife and thee daughters in the car I didn’t stop to look. But it was there the night before. I did notice it was a Ranager and that it was left hand drive. Didn’t see an obvious charge port cover in the normal for spot (unless it was on the other side being LHD. It pulled in after two other SUVs that were in cammo too. I didn’t get a picture of the ranger but here is one of the SUVs.

Darn I wish I took a picture of the one I saw. You picture looks more like a Maverick with the front headlights, or am I wrong? The one I saw was for sure a Ranger but (again from a few second glimpse 3 days and 2,000 miles ago) was a bit beat up on the front underside corners from likely off roading. The theee vehicles I saw… the ranger my wife saw when we pulled in but I didn’t. An hour later I saw them all go through the parking lot and then the ranger again in the morning. But none of them were plugged into the 6 charge point EVSEs.

Looks bigger than the Maverick and the license plate is centered, (Maverick’s tailgate is smaller and license plate is off-center).

That is the redesigned ranger that is coming to Europe/Australia this year. It should be coming to the USA in MY2024.

I can make out a solid rear axle in the photo, so I would be very surprised if this was an EV.

It's probably a Ford Everest.

I thought Farley said the lightning will be the only ev based on the current lineup? And that the next truck model would be less like a traditional truck?

2022 Lightning (Ordered 6/19, delivered 10/28/22)
I thought Farley said the lightning will be the only ev based on the current lineup? And that the next truck model would be less like a traditional truck?

Here is the quote: “We're already pushing dirt down in Blue Oval City in Tennessee for another electric pickup truck that's different from this one,” Farley said.

Some take this to mean the next generation of Lightning will be radically different OR it could mean a new model--Ranger EV or Maverick EV ( or something else).

I think it is option#2. I can't see Ford spending all this money for Rouge only to see production move to TN for Gen 2. The way its worded makes me think its a new model vs an updated/revised Lightning.

As far as platforms go..Ford has said there is an Explorer EV coming in 2024. How much it would share with the current Explorer, idk....

I noticed the same thing on the rear axle. Also, the grille is open to let air flow through. That would not be necessary on an EV frunk.
