Curious if the mounting holes for the front license plate bracket are tapped at the plant or the dealer. If the dealer is responsible I might request they hold off so I can try a side mount next to the front vent.

Thoughts or ideas on this? That stock front bracket is a little too beefy for my tastes...I like some of the curved/flush mounted plates I've seen kicking around the web. Will troubleshoot.

Thanks in advance.

It's not tapped, the dealer installs them with rivets. You have to be careful side mounting not to block any sensors.

My front plate bracket was screwed into the panel just below the frunk using self tapping screws. There are two other holes in the bracket that line up into the bumper, but they didn't drill holes for those in case I wanted to run without a front plate. They gave me the additional screws though. They came in a little bag with a Ford part number.

I asked my dealer not to install and they did not. The holes are drilled at the dealer, not the factory.

I did not want holes drilled in my bumper and the factory one sits too high up and is in an odd spot in my opinion. I searched and bought one of these that attaches to the tow hook and doesn't block a vent or sensor. It is pretty beefy and I did have to put a shim under one side before tightening up the bolts to get it to sit level.

I thought mine looked a bit off. I need to provide the feedback that it doesn’t stick far enough away from the bumper to use all the bolts. I’m only using 3 and slapped some washers on the front of one side to provide enough clearance to the bumper. What’s your bumper clearance look like?

Mine is pretty tight and I only put the bolts on the bottom of the license. The bracket behind is pretty stout so the plate sits tight against it. Agree though that you can't put the bolts in the top holes because the bracket it too tight to the bumper.

I added some washers on the outboard side on the top.

Has anyone tried or seen the product from Snapplate? They make them for Teslas and site shows them for the lightning

I ordered the snapplate. a bit expensive but fits well and easy to remove if needed

No problems so far with snapplate. Quick to remove if needed but feels very sturdy when attached. Low profile. Unfortunately I need the front plate, but also wanted it centered. Not a fan of the look of offset mounts.
