Has Anyone Had Ford Dealer Install Walk Away Lock (WAL) by Installing BCM Update Through FDRS? If so, how and was there a cost?

Hey y’all, question about the BCM update needed for WAL. I have my 20k service appt soon and want to get the BCM updated while at the dealer. Do I just simply ask them to update the BCM and they’ll know what I’m talking about? Is there a certain update it needs?

Or, is there a way to know ahead of time if my truck needs the BCM updated in order to activate WAL via Forscan? TIA!

If you ask for the BCM update they will likely just say no as there is no CSP for it. Ford won't pay dealers just to do simply requested SW updates. I believe you'll be better off saying your wireless AA or CarPlay doesn't work and ask them to apply the SW updates for the modules for that TSB. They are supposed to do it if you are in warranty. Those include the BCM update (and others). So they'll do TSB's and CSP's and that should cover you. It would be simpler if they only did the module you wanted, but let them do all the updates.
