Walk away lock after update

For anyone that has WAL working. How long is the delay before the truck locks. I know on GM cars it’s about 10 secs. I got it working on my lightning and it seemed like more than 20sec before it locked. Now it’s not doing it at all. Weird. Will try again I. The morning and see if it works again.

So I would say your experience is about as good as mine. The walk away lock is awesome, but it doesn't seem like it's at the software level that my dad's Mach E is. In fact I would say that it's like his Mach E was until he got an update that fixed a lot of the Phone As A Key and walk away lock issues. I wish mine was more like his Mach E, I even had to turn on the audible chirp because while it works I'd say 90% I need to know on that 10% chance if I need to lock the doors.

that’s why I disabled mine. Seems like it locked 100% of the time in my garage but if I parked in a really sketchy place that’s when it would fail. Seemed pointless to have auto lock when I would have to walk away then watch to see if it locked. I’d love to use it but only if it’s 100% reliable and allowed to set exempted locations as I don’t need my truck locking at home.

Dealer is wrong. 2024's came with WAL. Go to Settings - Vehicle - Locks, You should see these toggles:

FYI - my 2022 only has it because my dealer updated my BCM and I enabled the toggles using FORScan.

Also - you need to update your Account Detail - Vehicles. Doesn't show you own a 2024.

I think I edited my post while you were replying. Your sidebar says you own a 2023 but your post said 2024.

Why is this something we have to alter, why hasn't Ford just enabled via over the air updates?! I was just at the dealer and they were like, your vehicle doesn't have it and all is up to date!

You are correct, bought in December 2023 so my brain keeps switching to 2024.

Yes, I updated doors, frunk, and BCM in addition to APIM.

After I got the update for the Frunk my lightning enabled the walkaway lock which also beeps the horn in the morning. My neighbors are ready to kill me. Ford please undo this feature. I need it off desperately. Unfortunately I do not have the forscan set up.

Something I haven't tried because I was able to add the toggles. However, if you lock the truck like you normally would - door switch, fob, etc - does the truck still try to lock again as you walk away and still honk? Would be nice with a bit of logic, if locked, no need to lock again.

You can disable that with FORScan.

Mines doing the same thing. Annoying when I’m doing several trips to unload it and it’s honking and relocking every time. Couldn’t find any options in the settings to disable so I’ll break out forscan this evening. Haha
