Thanks for sharing your experience.

Other then the tires and windshield, what maintenance/repairs have you done on your baby? The 97.5%SOH is pretty impressive considering the mileage. Did you charge to 90% daily? I saw your had a battery issues at 50k miles, did the dealership change any bettery?

Great post! It’s amazing that the battery has held up this well for so long.

I was scrolling through the screens from the app earlier today, looking at various things, the SOH caught my attention. It actually said my HVB SOH was 98.5%, I have screen shots that show it lower but I'm wondering if the state of charge impacts that number. No big deal either way though I can't imagine my battery got healthier.

I actually think Ford may have over engineered it a bit simply because they couldn't risk damaging the F-150 brand. But if you listen to the battery researchers you can see that my particular use case works to the battery's advantage. Not to many really deep discharges, don't charge to 100% often, and certainly don't run it below 25% very often either.

96.4% battery health at this mileage is insane guys. Ford kicked ass with the battery on this.

Compared to every other EV on the road right now that’s SIGNIFICANTLY better health on the trucks that have reported in over 100k miles than the other brand EVS.

Incredible.

The HVB SOC is the high voltage battery state of charge, the software limits this to keep the battery from actually getting to a "real" 100% for the sake of battery longevity. When the dash (or HVB Display) says it is at 100%, there is a bit of capacity held in reserve. I suspect as the actual health (HVB SOH) of the battery degrades the software will eat into that buffer in order to maintain the estimated range at 320 miles.

that is awesome battery health for 3 years. my average is 2.3mpK for 30k miles. we do live in the redwood forest mountains. going downhill to bay area I see 2.7mpK, coming home its 2.1 mpK. if I am going into post office I see like 15mpK all downhill. coming home its 0.9mpk.

All the actually real maintenance was done under warranty, the battery issue was never an actual issue for me, but part of a recall. They replaced a module in the pack. Since I didn't have to pay for it, I didn't think it was big deal.

They have had a couple of recalls where they replace the tailgate light and a few other things, I didn't have to pay for it, so again, no big deal.

The SOH read 98.5% earlier today, so that number appears to be a little fuzzy, but I still get an estimated 320 miles or more range when I charge to 100%, which only happens a couple of times a month.

The vast majority of the time I do charge to 90% but I have flip flopped with 80% for a few months. 80% had me coming home below 25% to many times so I went back to 90%.

I posted some screen shots of me getting something like 22 m/kWh in Vegas a while back. Its a fun novelty but not much more than that. Most of my area is pretty flat so the biggest impact to my mileage is pedal pressure and wind speed.

Can you point me to others that are over 100,000 miles?

p.s. p.s. nothing in this post should be construed as a call to action to harm, or cause to be harmed, either Electric Viking guy (in Australia? really?), his vehicle, or his vehicle's tires. Though putting a Tennessee Vols sticker on his car's rear driver's side door window would be hysterical.
$17k seems about right - some 50% 1-2-year depreciations - thank you for the update/free electricity here too except road trips can be expensive like ICE+.

How much battery degradation do you have at that mileage - 5% or so?

The OP's long post answered my question about the Ford Lightning OEM shocks, and their reasonable longevity which seems to be much better (longer) than that of the typical OEM sedan shocks. Much appreciated! ...one less thing to worry about :muscle:

About two weeks or so ago it said 97.5% HVB SOH. But after I charged it to 100% on Wednesday, on Thursday it said 98.5%. I know NMC batteries really do need the once a month 100% charge to keep the monitoring systems in sync.

I am at 17K with 98 SOH. I am not sure how much age is a factor and there is definitely some crap shoot factor in defects in each cell. I would be more than happy if mine is above 95 at your milage.

It was encouraging t read your report.

Thanks

At your mileage, unless you charge to 100% often and then run it down near 0% often or let it sit at 100% in the heat a lot, 98% sound a bit low. The next time you charge it up to 100% let it sit on the a charger for a while, even if it is just a wall socket. It will take a bit of time, a couple of hours maybe, but it will start balancing the modules. I have just seen (this week) a full 1% improvement on the SOH by doing that. Could have been caused by something else but that would be quite a coincidence.
