In Texas you can't sue Tesla in a Texas court or use lemon laws since you didn't buy it there. Weird I know.

I stepped into my local Ford dealer on Thursday morning. They had just sold their only Mustang Mach-E, to an online buyer from several states away, at a markup over MSRP of $4,000.00, but when my F150 Black Pro9.6kw Lightning order, with Towing and Towing Tech packages, was accepted by the dealer later in the day, they sold it at the MSRP - $45,552...
now, I'm old school and would normally have NEVER agreed to buy ANYTHING at MSRP, much less a $45,000 vehicle, BUT, I do also understand the sales and production environment we are now in, and who knows how long it will last, if it doesn't become more of the 'norm', moving forward:

Let's wait 3-6 months to find out.

by the way, along with another previous conversation about 'local' dealers, and how you and your business impacts how they 'treat' you... when I stepped into my local dealer on Thursday, I spoke politely with the internet sales agent, and we chatted quite a bit about the EV part of the vehicle, and I shared that I am a current owner of Two Nissan Leafs, and know very well how owning an EV works. I shared some of our 'charging' experiences, and made it known that I also am willing to help any other potential EV buyer - giving them real world ownership insight. The dealership appreciated this, and I believe it goes a long way to making THEM comfortable also with what they are selling, since it's highly likely that NONE of them have hardly ever driven an EV, much less own one. I believe they also bumped my up to the primary position in their order system, right before Ford brought down the emails to buyers - mine, fortunately, was one of the first, and even though ordering the Pro with standard battery might be listed as one of Ford's lowest number of models they have product to build, it looks like I might be one of those lucky ones. Hurry up and wait : )

Nicely done. I would configure the same except for body color. The dealer should make 10% on that order and you should get the $7,500 tax credit. I am kind of envious about the tax credit, which will be gone by the time it is my turn.

I am thinking that while the BuildBackBetter plan might not be the same outcome when it's actually voted on and eventually passed, or in some form, EVs will not be continued to be treated the same way as the current tax 'credit'. I think also the 'number' of EVs sold limit will go away, and it will be more of a 'time' limit, versus numbers sold, such as 'until 2030', or a versions similar, like a 'decreasing' tax credit/refund as time progresses. I also think that changes to how the 'credit' works will happen, as well, becoming a true 'refund' at the time of purchase, although it be more easily digested if it is solely a refund to the selling dealer, and becomes a lower overall selling price, versus a 'check' back to the customer.

If you have a good local dealer then the customer/dealer experience is great. If you are just chum in the water and they are sharks circling the direct sales model is great. We just purchased a Volvo xc40 EV. The sale would not have happened without the local dealer having a car to drive. I purchased a previous car with them in 2016. Same sales guy. We chat every once in a while. If Dennis has any EV questions he can ask. The dealer experience there is great. They know how to take care of people. The xc40 is supposed to be online purchase only and you select the dealer. It was a pain to order, luckily the local dealer made it easy, even selling me their brand new demo car with 13 miles on it and replacing it with my ordered car so that I could have the exact options that I wanted.
In glad the lightning sales model does not match the Volvo xc40 EV model. Any day, not every day, but without notice a list of cars pops up for your area (cars that will be delivered in the next 6 weeks) colors and build options are listed (limited combinations) and it becomes a free for all for who reserves the car first.

TLDR: A good dealership adds value and I have no problem with them making money on the deal. However there are bad dealerships and there has to be way to bypass them and save a bit of money.
