I spent a few hours showing off my truck with Andy Slye, who has done a lot of videos regarding Tesla (he owns a Model 3 and Model Y). Enjoy!

2025 F150 Lightning Lariot
Brand new to EV vehicles. We have a 2025 refreshed model 3, and the entire experience in the Tesla is a notch above the 2025 F150 L Ford. Attention to detail, and layout are most noticeable.

Two very different types of vehicle with different approaches to customer interface. Both are quite different than ICE vehicles mostly for the better!

I think the "notch above" is to be expected given that Tesla is a "Luxury" brand. I'm curious what trim model is your Lightning? (Not that I think the Ford-Platinum bling probably compares to the Tesla bling, but it would be worth knowing.)

As an XLT owner, due to wanting to have less "ooh aah" and more truck-like-simplicity, I'm curious about your thoughts on the overall appeal to folks who are brand new to EVs? I know Ford's approach was to make the lightning as much like a good ol' Ford truck as possible, and as an owner of several other older Ford trucks I think they did just that. In the end I think that will win over a lot more "converts" from that demographic as a result whereas the Tesla approach will capture the Lexus and German car owners more.

2025 F150 Lightning Lariot
Our lightning is a Lariot Trim, and the Model 3 is well, a model 3 :) it does have the AWD Dual Motor option.

I agree that Ford made it as much as possible a typical F150. We went with the Lariot Trim as we have an F350 with same Trim and really liked that power rear center window. It's great for highway cross county cruises.

We currently own a 2024 Lightning Platinum and a couple of 2023 Tesla Model Y’s. Prior to the Lightning Platinum we owned a Lightning Lariat ER.

In my opinion Tesla is NOT A LUXURY BRAND. It is a well made tech marvel with minimalist interior appointments.

There is very little difference between the Lariat and Platinum Lightnings other than massaging seats.

Comparing Lightning and Tesla is apples to oranges. They both have advantages over the other.

Our Teslas are our preference when doing doctor visits, mall runs and other local short trips. The Lightning shines in almost all other trips due to its roominess, ride comfort, storage space etc. On top of that we use the ProPower 240 v outlet to power our cabin during the frequent power outages.

All that being said, they complement each other very well.
