While I applaud those with the courage and wherewithal to endeavour into this nomadic way of life, living in the machine, overlanding, extended camping etc, kudo's but you won't find me in any of those circumstances for a few reasons, mostly the inability to take a shower everyday 1st thing in the am. Yeah I've taken my fair share of what's known as a "Marine bath" but that just won't get it for me.

My idea of camping is a motel room without HBO. 😁

Anyone used an air mattress like this that fills area rear passenger legs go?

I use this bench from SnowPeak to fill the legroom void. Perfect height. Got mine from a discount camping supply store.

This was a proof of concept test run. Haven't tried sleeping in this setup yet.

I have slept on the cot and cooler without the mattress in this spot. It works. Needed a pillow for the head. Can fit another person on the rear seat itself.

I got the same model as this, but for about third the price, on Temu.

For a single person, inflate the wider section for you horizontal, and use the narrower section as the support into the foot well. Don't need to inflate the narrow section to full inflation, or you'll end up not level and pushed into the seat backs a bunch.

For a single taller adult, or two smaller adults, or kids it could be used full width as well, with either the included inflatable support cubes, or a solid surface.

It also goes nicely full width in the truck bed for star gazing.

Haven't tried it with the seat back lowered to horizonal as @vvgogh showed. That's very interesting.

I'll also need to engineer some solution to not block the rear air vents. Not that they do much in the F150L normally, but it's still nice to have air not coming from so far away...

Anyone ever try anything like this to take advantage of the full cab? It looks like it has some supports on the armrest but mostly depends on the grab handles to support the weight which may be less than ideal if using it a lot.

Company seems to have gone out of business unfortunately:

Yes. Fold down rear seat. Push front seat forward. Place 2’ x 4’ plywood across the gap and you have a sleeping platform for the exped duo mattress.

See pictures earlier in this thread.

I saw that, but this is a different idea since the platform extends over the front seats. I believe what I shared would give another 1-2 feet of space.

I think the option you're mentioning might be preferable though since there would be more head room.
