I'm not one to put used tires on any vehicle but that being said, I'd measure remaining tread, adjust vs retail, and subtract a hundred or two for shelf life. The biggest factor is likely to be how used they were outside of winter conditions. Tends to eat tread.

Ask him to measure the tread depth, or at the very least stick a coin in with a pic and you can estimate it.

I don't know canadian currency sizes, or even what the value of that particular coin is lol
But judging very roughly by this pic, I'd estimate 1 season for sure, possibly 2.
Would mostly depend on how you drive and your alignment. Judging by the rest of the tread, I would guess he ran them overinflated. Not a big deal but the edges have much more tread than the center. Could, but not likely to be the design. My only experience with winter tires was years ago running some Blizzaks on my car.

I just noticed in the pic, there is also the beginnings of dry rot, so if you go through with it, count on 1 season.

They used and tread sucks. I’m surprised they selling those. I have found better tires at used tire shops . Maybe that’s just Cali

it’s snows in the Sierra mountain range and with out snow tires and 4wd you need chains when it gets bad. Have you ever put snow chains on in the snow? It’s no fun

Dry rot and almost down to the wear strips is definitely a good reason to get rid of them, but never a good reason to buy.
