I just had the error that my motor coolant was overheating after driving my truck for 4 miles and parking in my driveway for half an hour. When I came back to go back to work, the error had popped up and it lowered my motor power to 63%. I checked my coolant level and it was right in the middle of min and max, and I don't remember noticing the temp creep up on my original trip home, so I'm assuming this is some weird random error more than anything else. I decided to chance it and drive slowly back into work and after about 5 minutes the temprature started to drop, and was back to normal after 5 more minutes. I know other people have had similar issues, did any of you have any further problems or is this something I can just chalk up to a weird glitch?

Based on what you described it is the glitch. Which would be that upon startup you suddenly have an overtemp warning when it doesn't really make sense to have one, i.e. the truck has been sitting for hours or like you, you were just in it and it was fine and you weren't exactly stressing the cooling capabilities.

Yup, that's exactly what happened. The temp was nearly maxed out when I turned the truck on and then rose all the way to the max. Certainly don't stress the cooling capabilities of the truck, it was a low speed drive from work to my house and only about 5 miles.

Hmmmm, just happened to me as well. We were driving all day. Got to my sisters house and powered down. Started truck up 30 minutes later and temp was off the charts with Coolant Overheat warning, hmmmmm.

I experienced a similar issue with my Lightning yesterday. The battery was at 50% and the truck was parked in the carport. It was the first time I had started the truck that day. I did not drive the truck and plugged it in to charge it to 95%. The message disappeared after I started the truck. I spoke to a local Ford service department, and they informed me that they would not be able to even look at the truck for two weeks and that I would need to leave the truck there until they could get to it. I am currently driving the truck but would like to speak to someone at Ford to ensure that everything is okay.

I wasn't aware that there was even coolant for the motors that needed to be monitored! I better check the manual.

It's on the drivers side when you open the frunk; you can see it in the little hole on the side of the frunk. Evidently there is no coolant level sensor, which seems to be a pretty big oversight, but my issue seems to have just been a software glitch.
