A friend of mine has started a new route-finding application for EVs. I don’t have any financial connection, but do have a personal one.

It’s still new. One of the things I find interesting is that it includes a numerical and visual representation of the reliability of the charger it puts into your route. It still needs work with respect to configurability, but it might be worth investigating.

Being still new (alpha stage software), I’m sure the would appreciate any feedback.

Lost me with the high security sign in process for software I probably don't need ....
For me an introductory trial addition should be easier, then later the actual software will need all the sign in safety ...

There is a “guest” mode. It just doesn’t save anything you set.

Interesting. I did have it suggest a Tesla only supercharger. And it only showed the first 6 chargers of a possible road trip.

Someone in the Mach-E forum also had the issue of it not showing the full number of chargers of a possible road trip too. The development team has been made aware of the issue.

Submitted some feedback. Best of luck to them at making a new tool.

Played with this for a few minutes without signing in. Lots of missing DCFC and L2 chargers in the few places I checked.

What exactly, is this site going to do that Plugshare and/or ABRP don't already do? That's not a snark/rhetorical question, I'm curious if they throughout of something else....

Chargeway is another one that's made some good improvements

One of the challenges with an app like PlugShare is that the vast majority of users don't post reviews, and 99% don't realize you can change the content. I have changed numerous locations, often to restricted access at a hotel for example.

I put in a route I frequently do, 250 miles, one charge. It suggested a Level 2 charger. Then I realized it didn’t know I was towing. Is there a tow mode where I can enter m/kWh so it can accommodate lower efficiency. Also allow adjustments for tires or wind would be nice.

It missed several known chargers on routes I selected.

Hi, I'm Dave, one of the founders of roadtripAI. Thanks for reporting this! Would you mind sharing your start and end points for the trip? This is a bug we've been tracking for other users and getting a bigger list of the end points that are causing it will help us knock it out for good.

Thanks for taking a look!

Hi, thanks for taking Selene for a spin! Would you mind providing a couple of the locations you checked so we can see what the issue may have been? We're always expanding our dataset to try and make sure we have as full of coverage as possible.

Regarding the plugshare/ABRP question, these are tools we've worked with a lot ourselves as EV drivers. We found that the lack of a real routing option that told us where and when to stop with PlugShare made it less helpful than it could be and ABRP didn't have the reliability focus we were looking for (and had a complicated interface that made it difficult for folks new to EVs to understand easily). Our goal has been to make it as easy as possible to get lots of information about your EV in one place, going beyond even just routing and charging (try signing up and selecting your vehicle and ask a question specific to that vehicle - for the most popular brands Selene can help troubleshoot vehicle-specific issues or inform you of features you may not have used before in your car).

We actually also work with fleets to route them to charging when they are on the road long enough and help maintain their vehicles, which was a bit of a spinoff from our original focus on passenger vehicles. We're already helping a business expand their service territory!
