On Thursday we took our 24 Flash in for the rollaway risk recall service. On Friday we noticed that the blinker indicator is much faster than before, both the sound and the light. It’s really annoying sounding. Also, every time we start it up we get a warning that says “Trailer brake module fault” When I called the dealer about the warning, he said that it is normal to get that if moisture has gotten into the wiring harness. It did rain on Friday, but shouldn’t it be dried out by now? Why have we never seen this before? We’ve had plenty of rain and snow since we bought the truck in 11/24. I’m wondering if something is going on with the electrical system.

Does it do the same when putting right-side blinker on? When you had it on left (video), did you look outside (front and rear) to see if blinkers were working or not?

There are blinker tie-in points from trailer wire/harness assembly...so probably related to your brake module error. I would open the hitch harness cover to see if wet inside, if it is, prop something against the spring clip to leave it open/exposed. You can also, poke underneath the rear bumper where the plug/harness enters the bumper to see if you find any oddities (wet/chewed/pulled wires).

Doesn't seem recall work related...but if you don't find any visual clues, suggest removing the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes and then reapply to see if the gremlin is gone.

Hi Jennifer -

I'm dealing with the same issue - but it wasn't triggered by a recall service. The steady blinking and the same exact trailer brake module fault error just happened randomly for me.

When I brought it into my local dealership a few weeks back (Pierre Ford here in Lynwood, WA), they inspected and concluded it was a faulty tow hitch itself (ie. hardware - I may have gotten the exact part wrong) and they ordered the part for me under warranty (I have a 24 Lariat). So it's apparently something that occasionally occurs with this MY.

FWIW, I don't tow much - and this error is specific to towing scenarios - so it doesn't really impact me. Perhaps the same for you (it's not a safety hazard). But I'd still like to get it fixed obviously to get rid of the crazy blinking when I use the turn signal.

I've got another warranty service to get this fixed in a few weeks. I'll keep you and folks posted if it resolves this. I certainly hope so!
