The propulsion sound requires a Platinum ACM and DSP. I tried to add it to my Flash and it isnt possible with the ACM in the Trucks below the Platinum.

One possible way would be to install a Mach E ACM Since they all have it.

We rented a Hertz GT 350 in Phoenix and it was hilarious good fun. Idled like a big block, speed “shifted” with perfect cacophony of screaming V8 can’t touch this! Borla System. On and off with the flick of a switch. Volume “adjustable”.

Ahh. I don’t care. You know how many years hybrids didn’t make any noise. And how quiet gas cars today. Not to mention brand new teslas make zero noise going forward. Only in reverse. So I’m loosing zero sleep on this issue.
Well it's required for a reason. Yes, some probably didn't make noise, which was the problem and why it was mandated.

If brand new teslas are not making noise they are flagrantly violating the law. That isn't justification.

Personally, I dont care what you do. However others should know that it opens one up to significant liability. It could be some dumb teenager skateboarding across a parking lot with headphones on, but if anyone shows your truck has the sound disabled then its up to you to convince some judge, who likely doesn't give a crap about lightnings or evs, that he was at fault where as previously it was upon them to prove you were at fault.

Has anyone figured out a way to change the sound generator, like on a Tesla. Sound is ok (I assume people can hear the truck sound outside the truck?) Seems awful low volume. Maybe a Ferrari F1 V 12 sound would wake em up LOL. Plus, the sound makes the truck quicker, like stickers.

Here is the thread on hacking the exterior pedestrian warning sounds.

Which is different than the interior, Platinum only, Propulsion Sound

It's a federal law requirement, and probably many states have a corresponding law in their code to use by local traffic enforcement officers.

BTW, the sound is mandated for Hybrids too.

It was already a feature in our Japanese cars (2012 Nissan Leaf and 2015 Toyota Prius) because Japan had the requirement before the US.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued its final ruling in February 2018, and requires the device to emit warning sounds when travelling at speeds less than 18.6 mph (30 km/h) with compliance by September 2020, but 50% of "quiet" vehicles must have the warning sounds by September 2019.
