The recall was the light on the tailgate, not the main tail light.Almost certainly someone else's that they ordered for the recall![]()
This is really sad to hear that this is still happening. I heard of this happening as early as July 22. The rear light bar on the tailgate on my truck has also been replaced three times. Those were failing due to micro cracks in the plastic. It would be my guess thats the same thing that is happening to the tail lights.Same with my driver rear tail light, noticeable condensation inside. No cracks. The truck was just bought last month.

I just made a report to NHTSA about it as a safety issue. Realistically, they're more important to notify as well.Hey Folks, I recently took my truck in since rear driver side turn signal went out. Turns out they found tiny cracks on edges (look like stress cracks) that caused condensation to ruin the light.
they say not under warranty and would cost me ~$5k to repair….
but then I did research and am seeing this is clearly an issue with these trucks. Recall was for tailgate bar but it’s the exact same thing on other light fixtures. Not any impact on truck but normal driving can cause the cracks to grow.
weird thing is I’m seeing ford treat the issue differently for different customers. Some had it fixed no problem and others are forced to pay even under bumper to bumper warranty.
anyway, I’m calling customer service and warranty department to challenge it.
any feedback or help on what got them to fix on other situations are appreciated.
Thanks!
