I was hit in a parking lot and the person left a note and their number. The drivers side rear light is broken and I need to replace it. I did a search on the ford site and am shocked at the price of this thing. It’s $1,800. I see them on eBay for $800. Are they the same thing? Will I know the difference? Is there anything to watch out for?

I’m hoping I can find a video to replace myself, no need to pay another $1,000 for labor from a dealer.

Have a dig through the forum, the blis sensor is the expensive component that people have had various success transferring over.

Be sure to get proper style taillights. There are 2 different depending on trim level

I installed an eBay one. First one hyper flashed but seller took return. Second worked fine. My BLIS module was not damaged so I transferred it over. Otherwise you’re looking at a dealer programming it.

As mentioned there is a different version for the “high series” (Lariat/Platinum). The reverse lights are different.

The tail light replacement and BLIS transfer are very easy.

Thank you. Maybe a silly question, but how do I determine if the BLIS sensor is damaged? I don't see any errors in the truck when it's on and it beeps if I back up close to something. Is that sensor the one that shows up on the rear view mirror when a car is on my left warning me not to change lanes, or just the backup one? Is there a place to check this in the settings in the truck or something?

It is for lane change and if a car is approaching from the side when you are backing. It is separate than the parking sensors which are in the bumper.

If you're not getting DTC's with a code reader then it is probably fine. What has happened to others is the lens gets cracked where the BLIS is and water gets in and damages the module. If you have a crack, cover with red or transparent tape to limit water intrusion until you get it replaced.

Here is a photo of the BLIS module. It is held in by 3 Torx screws. From the outside, it is at the bottom of the light.
