I'm getting a Service Vehicle Soon warning that comes and goes. The warning comes on for 2 or 3 starts then goes away for 10 to 20 starts. This has repeated 3 or 4 times. Truck operates normally the entire time. I'm guessing a software thing, but don't really want to take the time for a dealership appointment for them to most likely tell me they cleared the error and let them know if it returns. Anyone else seeing this?

Get a cheap ELM 327 off Amazon and run codes to check. It'll allow you to also clear the code and put the light out just like a dealer would do.

Ha ha, thanks for the reminder. I have one and make forscan changes but forgot about its ability to check and clear codes. I also have a handheld Autel code reader and that doesn't work with the Lightning's CANBUS for some reason.

At the beginning of July we drove about 300 miles with a canoe on top. (’22 Lariat ER at 72-75 mph) We got the Service Vehicle Soon message a number of times. So I made an appointment for last Monday. In the 4 weeks between when the light came on and the service appointment, the light never came back. When the light was on, it was steady, not flashing.

The dealer said that since the message was not still showing, they couldn’t fix the truck.

When this light came on, at startup, it was hot, in the low or mid 90s. I wonder whether it was the hot weather that caused the light to come on. After a minute or 3, the light would turn itself off as I drove.

I don’t own a scanner and don’t know where the OBD II port is. Can someone clue me in? I’d like one that would also work on a ā€˜24 diesel MB Sprinter van and a Tesla MY.

I had intermittent service vehicle soon messages. It would come one and 15 minutes later disappear . Took it to dealership when message was not displayed. They pulled the codes which led them to a failing Gear Shift Module. They replaced the GSM and the fault has not returned.

EDIT:
Looked at service invoice, Tech stated that P0929:77 PRESENT IN MEMORY. COINCIDES WITH CUSTOMER CONCERNS. He then listed several checks with results. Next he stated REPLACE GEAR SHIFT MODULE PER TSB. CLEAT ALL DTC'S AND RETEST, ,OK. .

I found another thread with the same fault

A simple Google search would tell you that the OBD II port is down at the bottom of the dash. Bend down and look and you'll see it on the left, above where your left leg would be.

No idea what would work for those 3 vehicles, you'll need to do some research.
