Silent Mode

Can someone help me understand Silent Mode a bit better? I activated it via FORSCAN and have tried it a few times. It seems to disable the horn and lights I believe when I get in/out of the truck. I thought this also turned off the dashboard and center stack after I exited and locked the truck while it's still on. Am I mistaken here?

Silent mode stops the exterior lights from flashing or coming on when you enter/unlock/lock/exit. The big screen can be toggled off by a dash switch (small screen in my Pro and I think in XLT) or in the settings menu (large screen for Flash and above), but it's temporary until you restart. The instrument screen is always on.

I think there is a "police setting" or "surveillance setting" that makes the interior dark, but I believe this is only available on Pro SSV models. I may be wrong but I think I read it on this forum somewhere.

No, it does not blank the displays. I would not want them blanked because I always leave the truck in silent mode and that would mean I have to turn it on and off every time I get in and drive. I would like to be able to completely turn them off. Calm mode reduces the light, but does not turn it off. I'm not camping inside the cab, but it would be very annoying if I was.

What silent mode does do is shut up and darken the exterior. For example in my case if I am backed into my driveway (normal), my headlights point right at my neighbor's bedroom window. Until I retired, I was leaving the house at about 0530 and did not want the headlights on. I also used FORscan to change the power up headlight mode from Auto to whatever it was when I turned off the truck (normally off).

I do recall reading on some FORSCAN thread that the more intense Silent Mode is called Dark Mode and that it's derived from the Pro SSV. I also remember reading that its truly dark as you say and not really worth it.

Fwiw don't forget you can turn the center screen off (at least on the 12"). I dont believe the driver display has that option however. .

FYI - The big display did have that option on the Mach E Mustang. They appear the same (I now have the small 12-inch display on my Lightning so this is a guess from afar).

Re: the Silent Mode question by the OP: we find it very useful when we camp, which is often. No sense in blowing our night vision and disturbing other campers nearby when any one of us forgets something in the truck (like, most every evening, sometimes multiple times) between EENT and morning. I also tend to turn off the blue charging ring in the ACCESS tab when we camp as state park etc. RV pads so as not to draw attention to our truck's charging all night.

At least on my 24 Flash, but the driver screen and 15" center screen have a "Calm mode". In both of those cases, the calm mode reduces the stuff on the display, but does not turn it off.
