hey fellas, anyone has done an install for a LED tailgate light in the Lightning? I bought this rigid bar (nilight 60" from Amazon) and was gonna do the install this weekend but noticed there are 2 protruding bolts where I was gonna put bar. The bar comes with 3M adhesive take so it won't sit flat on the bolt's head. Any ideas of how to get around that.

Let me know if you ran with that issue.

Thanks!

Can't answer that, but make sure you don't wire it into the trailer lights.

I was planning to wire with trailer lights with splicer. Is the any reason it is not recommended?

Yes, you cannot do that. If the light company doesn't say that in the directions, you bought from the wrong company. Been an issue for about a decade, truck will think a trailer is connected. You need to connect to wires in taillight.

please show your ending set up. I am curious about the light bar staying Stuck going over those two bolts. What if we remove the two bolts holding the tailgate stability stub?

Update: I installed the Ford Accessories Putco (find my comments) and removed the tailgate stabilizer bracket.

I think the easier way to go around it, may be swapping these bolts with a similar flat head type, the bar won't sit flat completely but at least it won't be protruding as much. Easier said than done, specially find the exact spec bolts

You might also consider some type of high density foam cut to the thickness of the bolt head and 3m it to the surface. This will take the bolts out of play and you can then 3m your lights to the surface of the high density foam.

Interested as well. How did you end up wiring this if not spliced to the trailer lights.
