Well, the title of the thread is to talk me out of it, not talk me into it....
Exactly. One of the reasons I tell him wait is that right now we are captive consumers in U.S. overpaying for everything. Who knows, by the time his Honda is retired, may be a door or a window open up to outside world. The SUV powertrain has lifetime warranty.

I always thought if you have to ask people on the internet whether you should by something, the answer would generally be no.
If you have reservations, do not buy it.

If you have low cost power and can charge from home and you drive say 10,000-20,000 miles a year AND can swallow the depreciation AND keep the truck for 2 decades, AND write off mileage as a business expense (or the whole thing) then it is close to a value proposition. Otherwise, buy a Maverick hybrid. We have saved about $7k in gas a year against about $800/year in electricity (Mach E and Lightning charging at $.0634/kWh power).

Might as well be a luxury SUV disguised as an Average Joe’s top drawer F150. Sort of. PS, we ❤ the truck.

Well, I'm one of the loony Californians, , , for me my Lightning cost about the same as a ICE to operate, aside from Hawaii, I think we have the highest Electricity rates in the country. That being said, as mentioned in other threads . . I'm a TRUCK gal. Have owned a truck ever since I started driving, years back. I Have solar on the house which helps, and Wanted to jump ship on ICE, And I like "Ford's" so it just made sense for me...

I love the diversity of the site. Of course we all have different feelings.

In my case, I recently gave up my Citation 501-SP Stallion Jet that I had flown for 32 years. I used to hate driving and flew to most every place we went. My F150 lightning has become my new "airplane" I love driving it. I can't imagine going back to a gas powered truck.

PS I do wish people would go a little light on the abbreviations. So many of us are less technically oriented

Too much for your use case, you don't do enough miles for the cost.

Find a 22\23 Lariat SR for mid 30's it will still have full warranty add a Granger warranty if concerned.

In Cali you don't need an ER or heat pump.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Parking a lightning is a PITA. An aircraft carrier has a better turning radius. You will be downgrading things you do 90% of the time to improve things you do 10%. Drive the Honda until it blows up and use the money to improve your life in other ways. My truck was 20 years old when I replaced it with Lightning. And if I had to do it over again and there was an electric ranger, I would probably go for that. Battery tech and EV options are improving every year. Wait until you NEED a new vehicle and by then you will have much better options.

There are cameras and sensors all around it, so I'm not really sure why it would be "hard to park". The front camera is something I don't think I can now ever live without, since I can now pull up to within an inch of something. The 360 degree overhead camera view also makes it extremely easy to park. My wife's SUV doesn't have such cameras and it makes me nuts. I guess since I've been driving a full-size pickup for about ten years I don't really notice the size anymore. IDK

First off, the Lightning is a great truck and works pretty well as a pickup truck. I have been driving a truck for most of my life and the size of a truck is an issue. Trucks are big, and modern full sized trucks are really big (especially for the tiny beds that they have but that is another story). Try driving and parking it in a metro area before making the plunge.
It's tall too. The parking garages in my town have surprisingly low ceilings. I learned pretty quickly I need at least 78" or I'll be replacing antennae.

The 360 cameras make it easier to park, but nothing will make it easier to find a parking space (or garage) that the truck will fit in. What they don’t tell you is that it is also quite wide, which means that you sometimes will not fit comfortably in a metro-sized maxed out tiny space parking spot. When you try to do a complex maneuver in a mini lot you will discover that the turning circle is not at all like your Honda. I know there can be a feeling of pride in slinging a big truck around but honestly it is a pain when all that you want to do is get a sandwich. You have to decide between being that jerk who parks over the sidewalk or that jerk who leaves his back end hanging out in traffic. By the way, when you are trying these maneuvers the thing is beeping like a garbage truck so you are also a jerk for waking everybody up.
You should back into parking spaces for a number of reasons. It's actually easier because you have a steering advantage while backing up. It's also safer since you will be looking where you are going when pulling out.

Hah. Good point, but I think most people do know what the abbreviation for postscript means.

I currently daily drive a 2022 Honda Accord, im thinking of selling it and getting the 2024 F150 Lighnting - Lariat. I've been wanting a bigger car for a while but this one is BIG. TBH my only use for a truck is hauling bigger items every now and then and home improvement store runs. I dont work a trade and I wont be towing anything. How is this deal and is it worth moving on from my Accord that has treated me really well and close to paying it off (2.5 years left). I'm not sure if I will regret getting such a big truck, but I did enjoy sitting in the cabin and driving it!

Sorry I can’t talk you out of it. I when from a small car to a maverick which was not quite big enough to a lightning lariat. No regrets. I learned to park just fine and it drives like a dream. If you have to buy something the lightning is the best vehicle I have ever owned.
