I work in a city where it's perfectly "LEGAL" to smash out your window, ramsack your truck and steal your shit.
Any ideas on a good place to store my pistol?

On your hip...I never leave mine in my truck even with 5% window tint and 50% windshield tint.

Have you considered the console lock box?

For my fellow Texans.... Your hip or lap is fine with the new changes to gun laws this month and constitutional conceal/open carry. I would always strongly recommend attending classes to get your CHL. I would also recommend getting law shield in your corner in the horrible event you have to draw on someone at some point.

Mine is on my hip till I get in, then it goes on the magnet holder on side of hump in the pocket. Easier to get to when in car with seat belt on. I do put mine under back locking seat if I need to leave in car. But I will at some point get a lock box for under seat if one will fit

Between the seat and the console till I get where I’m going, then on my person. Carry mine in the small of my back. Yes please get you CCL, then join IDPA an practice every chance you get.

FWIW, in your lap or anywhere in your vehicle was legal in Texas before those changes.
