CSP 24B56 - Inoperative Front Parking Sensor(s) - IPMA Software Update for Certain 2022-24 F-150 Lightning Trucks

My Lightning is back in the shop trying to get the front camera to work again when approaching an obsticle. I had the small 360 issue but fixed it with the FORScan fix. Dealer reinstalled all module software related to 24B56, including the IPMA Camera module software, but still will not come up. To their credit, they are dropping off a MME for me tomorrow while they work with Ford to try to get it working again.

Aside from the the obvious negative bias here it seems like a half-baked update for a menial issue that is being performed by techs that can't be bothered to read a 2 page instruction booklet. Downside seems to outweigh the upside. Shouldn't have to FORSCAN fix @Ford Motor Company's mistakes.

Has anyone with a 23 had an issue with this fix? If not exclusively, it seems predominately an issue with the 22s.

I don’t think “consensus” is don’t do it. I think the vocal few who have had an issue say don’t do it. I say go for it, especially if you have a 23. Mine completed (both CSPs - Frunk and Sensors) without issue and many others have as well. Seems this is mostly a dealer issue, so if you have a 22 and want it done, quiz the dealer and make sure they know what they’re doing first.

Menial issue? Yes. I never had a front sensor problem. But now I have what I need to turn the latest BlueCruise on with FORSCAN. Win-win.

On the phone right now, new service advisor as the other one got canned...

There is an active COPUS case open, with a new IPMA ordered. The truck has not been touched since the first day it was there. I am having them see if they followed the instructions to the letter, with the maintainer on, several times. We shall see...

Please let me know if/how they fix this. My truck still has this issue post-update and my dealer started by saying "Are you sure that the camera used to work?"

They have no fix for me.

Yes - for others like me, I never had the issue to begin with and was doing the update thinking I was forward-thinking, but my truck is now less functional after the update than it was before.

Absolutely. And for those that did have the issue, it’s not even fixing that issue for all. So it’s a lose lose haha. Don’t fix it for me. And they have replaced the failing sensor and it still gives the error.

I was dreading getting this done due to fear of having an issue. I got a 2023 thats been flawless for 14,000 miles.


Dealer called after it's been there all day. Said they tried updating the "imaging unit" 3x and it wouldn't take.

Want me to come back after they put on the battery sensor so they can try again.

I'm guessing the 12v batter wasn't charged up high enough. Now I'm scared they've drained it on it.


I really need to get something to monitor the 12v battery health/voltage. There's no easy way to see that, is there?

I can't believe this process is so convoluted and requires so much power- how do software/firmware updates require so much downtime in 2024? Seems like they are using antiquated software and hardware methods.

I hated Tesla in a lot of ways, but I never had to take it in for a software update/recall. Everything was OTA (from new features, to fixes for door handle open/close bugs, to frunk issues) and done in 45 minutes or less. I really, really miss that. Now I get an update that makes future updates work better? And new functionality never comes? And when I get a CSP I take it in and it either doesn't fix the issue OR it makes new issues arise (like tons in this thread)?

@Ford Motor Company you guys really need to figure this out if you are going to compete long-term in the EV and even Plug-In hybrid realm. The irony is that it will actually make YOUR life and your employees time far more efficient and less expensive. Everyone would win with a little upfront investment.

I completely agree. Getting better at software wouldn't just mike the owners lives better, it would save the company a ton of money and time. This is ridiculously difficult.

I think it depends on the Dealer. I had mine done yesterday via Mobile Service. I wasn't hopefully as this was my first interaction with this dealer. The tech showed up I asked if he needed power and a 12v battery charger. He said no. I let him get to work. I popped out about 1/2 hour later. He was charging the battery from a jumper to his Ford Service Vehicle. and had a starlink terminal setup o the driveway. He was probably early 20s., Knew his stuff and had it all done in about an hour and a half.
