2025 Ford Lightning Flash
Looking to buy a Lightning Flash. Part of the driver is that complimentary Ford Pro Charge station home install as we are definitely going to try and snag a Kia EV9 when they starting hitting the lots….so figured great we will already have a home charging station..but now it seems the 2026 Kia’s are going to have the NACS port. Lightning has CCA(I am brand new at this EV stuff so forgive me if I’m hilariously using terms wrong). Now I’ve obviously read you can get an adapter to use a NACS station to charge CCA port…but looks like you can’t go the other way around with CCA station to NACS port and there’s no adapter for that scenario?Even then I’ve also to my dismay seen this isn’t as easy as “plugging it in” and you need to mess with apps etc so even if you COULD CCA charger to NACS adapter it could be a pain in the A software wise? Funny enough the specs for the Ford Charger Pro say “with a commonly available adaptor” you can use it to charge Tesla…because that isn’t vague…

Not sure but then CCA you mention might be the std plug Lightning uses, CCS-1. I’m pretty sure the Kia EV9 is NACS, but you could check with dealer to be sure. I use my charger station pro on my 2024 Kia EV6, works fine. As far as an adapter for CCS1 to NACS, you don’t need one for level 1 & 2 charging. The bottom part of CCS-1 is for DC access, either charging or discharging. The upper part is a J1772 and you can buy an adapter from this to NACS (J3400). Check out a company online from Canada, A2Z. They have adapters from CCS-1 to NACS for DC charging only and J1772 to NACS for AC charging only. With a few adapters and about 6 apps on your phone, you can go anywhere in America. Have fun and safe travels.

I would reach out to A2Z for technical support to see what they recommend for your CCS1 charge cord connector which comes on the Ford Charge Station Pro. You might be able to use the J-1772 to NACS adapter.

https://chargers.ford.com/ford-charge-station-pro

Hopefully in 2026 once NACS rolls out for new vehicles, we will see more CCS1 / J-1772 adapters that fit NACS vehicles other than Tesla.

I don't think the A2Z DCFC Thunderstorm will work on your AC Ford charger to charge your NACS Kia in 2026.

The Thunderstorm adapter is what Tesla users use to DC fast charge their Tesla at a CCS1 charging station like Electrify America or EVGO.

Edit: Here is some Reddit talk on the new 2026 KIA with NACS plug that was picked up in Canada on Vancouver Island.

You can try to follow the chat towards the bottom where they talk about adapters. 2026 KIA EV-9 is not whitelisted to charge at Tesla stations yet.

Picked up our EV9 and noticed a NACS port… turns out it’s a 2026 model, Surprise!

The 2025 EV9 is NACS, but will charge if you have the adapter. As mentioned earlier, our MY24 EV6 is CCS-1 and charges fine or either of our FCSP and ChargePoint Flex.

You absolutely can get a CCS-1 to NACS adapter. Lots of Tesla owners have them (according to my boss who drives a Tesla Model Y).

Welp after reading this thread I'm going to be the bearer of bad news and then give a solution.

The mainstream CCS to NACS adapters are only for DC fast charging. It does not pass every port and pin due to safety reasons. It will not work for AC level 1 or level 2 charging.

A standard 1772 to NACS adapter will not fit the charge station pro with out cutting pieces of the adapter out. (Hack)

Now having said this I do have an adapter that works for both AC / DC but frankly it's dangerous in the wrong hands. Use at your own risk.

I would expect that. Just a us CCS-1 users need a different adapter to go from a Tesla SuperCharger to CCS-1, than we do to go from a Tesla Destination Charger to J1772. I personally have watched my boss plug his Tesla MY into the J1772 chargers at work using an adapter.

That part I have no information on as my boss has never attempted to charge at my house with my FCSP :)

Thank you so much everyone for the input! I ended up pulling the trigger on a Flash last night. Once I get my bearings hoping to contribute to the forum!

I'll second what @bryansocko said. The plug on the FCSP cannot be used to charge NACS on level 2 out of the box. I've been tempted to modify mine but haven't pulled the hack saw out just yet.

Congrats on the Flash!
