Ford has the most recalls by far the last 4 years - and the highest warranty costs - so the dealers are advised by Ford corporate to push back on warranty expenses. That means the dealer will deny a warranty issue exists to get the owner to live with it.

A warranty is worth the added cost if you get a '22 - a new full-warranty '24-25 though may be better if you're sure you want a Ford.

It really seems to depend on the dealership! I've heard such glowing things from a lot of people and also horror stories. It's much like anything else. You have places where people really wanna help and places where they just don't. I always appreciate places that work to make customers happy. So much!

Seller not responding, I’ve got no time for nonsense. Maybe it sold, but ad still up. Well, plenty of options for a buyer with no timeline and I assume prices will trickle even lower as time goes by. Thanks for all the input!

I don't want to start a fight here, but I seriously doubt having 80amp charging at home is such a huge incentive that makes it worth more than the later models. It's not really *that* much faster and basically everyone can charge overnight enough for their daily commute on 40amp. No hate coming from me BTW, just saying I don't think it's going to add value.
As for OP, if it's a good deal, buy buy buy!

My ‘22 platinum has been the best vehicle I’ve ever purchased - and I’ve had some damn good F-150’s. If it was damaged in an accident and the insurance company totaled it, I’d try to buy a used ‘22.

That being said, you need to be acutely aware of range limitations and your driving requirements. Also charging at home is a must to maximize battery life and convenience.

'22 Lightning Lariat on another forum had the owner lamenting at 150,000 miles - $17,000 was the trade-in value for his truck.

EV's radically devalue compared to ICE/PHEV - buyers don't rust older batteries w/heavy mileage.

IMO the '22 ER is the best configuration possible. Bonus points if it's equipped with Max Tow. Double plus bonus if it's Atlas Blue. WHY DID THEY CANCEL THAT COLOR!?

I absolutely agree with you too. I have a '22 and only a 11 kW charger. For most it is sufficient. For some having that 19kW option is important. All depends on our use cases.

I’ve got a 22 XLT ST, 57k miles. Had to replace one of the cells under warranty, and a couple minor electrical issues like the bed cam and the tow connector fuse.

No complaints at all about the truck.

Only thing id change on it is getting the SR. But they didn’t have the option for the ER on the lower XLT model when I got it.

The guy did get back to me. He has a local offer pending. He had to replace a battery module at 20k kms, had to replace the air conditioning (?), a brake caliper, and the rear bumper from backing into a tree. Ford extended the HV battery warranty to 10years/200k kms. Sounds like it probably would’ve been an honest deal. A helpful Canadian price point anyway. I’ll keep browsing.

2022 Lightning Lariat ER
Fellow Canadian here! I purchased a '22 Lariat which had 18,000km (11250mi) in March of 2024 as a lease-return from a dealership. I let the previous owner pay a chunk of depreciation (to the tune of about $20k), and as a bonus, in British Columbia, used EVs with over 6000km on the odo. are not subject to the provincial sales tax, so I only paid 5% GST! I did spring for an extra 5 year "everything electric" warranty, since these things are rolling computers.

I asked for any service records from the previous owner - they had one battery module replaced due to an imbalance issue, and I've had 2 issues serviced (one major one being the charge port having to be replaced because I couldn't charge at all; I was without my vehicle for over 2 weeks as they diagnosed the problem and waited for parts, and then later told me this looks like it would potentially be a recall issue). My local dealership has been great about addressing my concerns, and besides these small concerns, I absolutely LOVE the truck and I love being all-electric.

Sure, I'd love a heat pump to provide better efficiency there, but to be honest, I think I'm okay without it given what I'm seeing newer models don't have.

My biggest gripe about my Lightning? This thing is big. We love the interior size, but when I have to get around the city, it can be a pain in the a$$ for things like parking, and while I fully expect to drive this truck for upwards of 10 years, I'm not worried about the battery ... my concern is that the infotainment system has felt slightly sluggish from day one, and I really hope Ford makes efforts to provide continued support and improvements as it ages because that's a very visible point we all use every drive.

I will take the bad with the good ... and there's so much good.

The WT is the low-end trim experience that you experienced - try the RST - LT - or Trail Boss or the line on the GMC side. 460 is a true range too v. the inflated '320' Lightning.

Range is a factor of driving habits and other environmental conditions. I drive my vehicles fairly gently. As a result, I usually beat the listed EPA estimate by significant margin. For my 2022 Ford Lightning, my historic usage over 21,438 miles is 2.7 mi./kWh.

The 2022 Lariat ER is rated for 48 kWh per 100 miles or 2.08 mi./kWh.
