Now if they could just come out with a 'Long Ranger' edition of the Lariat with closer to a 400 mile range they'd sell a shed load more of the Lightnings. Or maybe Ford performance can sell us a 'Long Ranger' battery pack.....or something.

We’ve got a

That’s an excellent point. Rivian is cramped and noisy. The motors whine and spool. Cybertruck has great tech but frunk is useless and front motor roars like a bad wheel bearing. The lighting has meh infotainment and Fischer Price interior. Otherwise, superb rig.

Full Disclosure: I have never owned or even considered buying a ford before this.
Fisher price interior? You must not have a lariat. They are superb

the trucks that already offer that aren’t selling as well as the Lightning, most probably because they are no more efficient than the Lightning and achieve the extra range solely through the addition of a much larger and heavier battery. if ford were to go down that path they would be adding capabilities that most don’t need most of the time. Sure, a bit of extra range would be nice but I suspect most customers would rarely benefit. The bigger breakthrough was the opening up of Tesla’s charging network. That alone took away much of the range anxiety and in my own case made the 500 mile drives to and from the Bay Area worry free. In other words I think Ford judged our trucks about right.

Lots of lightnings in Los Angeles. I get lots of questions from people as I work. My biggest hate is the turning radius. It's the worst turning radius of anything I've ever owned. Not sure if it's a lightning thing or a F-150 thing, but trying to make a u-turn or park in a busy parking lot is much more time consuming. 1 of the reasons i upgraded to the flash from the pro was the additional cameras and sensors, bells and whistles. Wish it had the rear wheel steering like the tesla and hummers. When people ask how I like the lightning, it's always I love the truck, but the turning radius sucks.

I also volunteer at the police dept. the parking lot looks like a tesla dealer. But there is 1 other lightning and always lots of questions from the officers. Possibly sold 1 yesterday to a tesla owner who questioned me like a detective, that's becase he is. Several officers had deposits on the Cyber truck, but nobody followed up on 1. There is 1 new Hummer that belongs to an officer I work closely with.

Since we have less than 30 days to qualify for the EV federal rebate, I would think that it's now or never with sales. My Flash just turned 1 yesterday and looking forward to what will be out there 2 years from now when my lease comes due.

I've had all the trucks from all the brands and this Flash interior is easily a 4 out of 5. Maybe 4.5 out of 5. I really don't know what that guy is comparing to, but the Lightning interior isn't bad at all.

Now, those exterior mirrors..... I used the "Fisher Price" analogy on those myself the other day.

It is interesting to see the sales figures where they are, in light of the environment that has been created around them, the lack of any ads (at least any I see) and the release of the competing GM Sierra about a year ago.
Instead of looking at Lightning sales 2024 compared to 2025, what do we see in "Total EV truck Sales" across all the models now available ?

It would be nice if Ford would actually TRY to market EVs. Might sell some more...
Thank you, I've been sayin this for some time...I see them spending time advertising the MachE but barely a glance at the Lightning....

I'm in the Los Angeles area and see other Lightnings pretty regularly. Unlike some of the other electrics (Tesla and Rivian) the Lighting does not stand out as much.
Ya, I notice the front light bar and maybe the tail lights, otherwise it just looks like a new ICE F-150

At this rate wouldn't be surprising if Ford makes the financial decision to drop the Lightning from its lineup. Doesn't seem to sell in the volume to be profitable. I think the only thing that will save it will be Ford keeping it around symbolically to not cede a subset of the full size truck market to competitors.
That would be the beginning of the end of Ford. A big reason sales are down is that there are more options in this truck space. People buying the Silverado and GMC EV's would have went lightning if they did not exist. Shocking of how many are still choosing a lightning over the newer tech GM products. The market is growing, and the lightning, with no love at all from Ford is beating every Lincoln and heavy trucks this month and close to gas mustang and E-series. If they are going to bow out on their #1 selling model's future, then they deserve where they are going to end up.

I live in a Hamlet of less than 1,000 population - and had the first Lightning in the sticks here, but now I see another one down the road a bit from me, they bought the Flash and it looks great.

I have a buddy that called up - his neighbour wanted to know if they could ask me some things about charging and what it costs to charge it at home, does it need to be garaged in our winter etc. There is interest out there, I try to be an honest ambassador and tell it like it is.

Ford may not be pushing the ads but I find quite a few people will ask me about the truck, I say:

1. Around town and within the range of the truck is no-brainer, our gas is expensive and utilty power is cheap as dust. (I drive for $1-2/day instead of $16-20/day.
2. Farther than the full battery range of the truck typically means DCFC and this costs about what gas costs around here, and you need to have and learn how to use some apps, and get the DC adapter to allow using Tesla chargers.
3. Winter range is less, even with the heatpump, its a fact. 20-30% less is likely in cold weather.
4. The truck is faster than anything I have ever owned, by far, a bit "too fun" sometimes.
5. The truck is the best in snow and on ice of any truck I have ever owned by far. even on stock tires.
6. Towing heavy and long distances isn't going to work in our region - no pull through charging yet.
7. Towing heavy short distances/around town is a joy - the truck out-pulls my 2500 Ram in city driving.
8. It is quiet - maybe too quiet even. I can hear the wind around the door mirror because there is no other noise to drown it out.
9. The "Frunk" is an amazing addition to the truck, my wife takes it shopping rather than her SUV just because of the convenience.
10. The truck heats up or cools down for cheap, in a few minutes. Compare to an ICE that you remote start and leave running long enough to heat the cabin from -20, wasting expensive gas to do it. I love the convenience of programing the departure times and the truck is ready when I am.

AND... I have the Pro Power option and my Lightning powers my whole house during power outages, which are frequent in the Seattle area. This is a major selling point in our area... git rid of your gas generator.

2024 Ford Lightning Flash ER
I’m a proud owner, but I’m certainly not proud of the most recent prices I’ve seen. Lends to the opinion that they’re not being as serious and this could be something that they’re using to balance their books to get some sort of leniency from the government. These trucks are, in my opinion, no more valuable than gas trucks and for the meat and potatoes of the vehicle (battery and electric motors) I feel like they should be even less than ICE.

I have a lariat ER. Dashboard and center console and most of the door panel are hard plastics.

I will say this again. Cybertruck and Rivian take the win in that category.
