Cruise control speeds up & down frequently due to "Busses Speed Limit" signs

We've often watched the little speed limit sign on our Mach-E read 85 in a 55 zone. That prompted us to never even consider using the automatic speed limit function on anything.

That having been said, the adaptive cruise control can be amazingly good given what it has to work with - just a radar, a camera view, and an algorithm. It's certainly not perfect, but should we expect a computer to look at the driver of a car which might pull out in front of us to see if that driver knows we're coming? Will it see the pedestrian who blocks the car in front of us as it turns right? Will it realize that the driver in front of us is only half awake (or maybe high) during this morning's commute? I think keeping our expectations realistic helps to know how much we should and shouldn't rely on the auto-copilot.

In rural downtown where speed limit goes to 25 MPH my truck sees State Road 70 sign and instantly accelerates trying to get to 70 in a 25 MPH zone speed trap.

I wasn't aware that you could turn off the road sign detection, that's really good to know. I don't normally use cruise control but I've had this exact issue before and it drove me crazy!

You use cruise control in downtown?

Yeah, I think is a good idea too but it slows down even on a slight curve. I don't like it. Is there a way to disable it? I did find on curves and cruise control without this feature.

No way to disable it.

I gather you aren't using BlueCruise. Curve speed control is really most useful when using BlueCruise because it allows the computer to stay in control around corners it used to force the driver to handle. On my drive to work there are two spots in either direction that forced me to manually steer prior to BC1.4, now it slows down and maintains the center of the lane perfectly.

Does this happen to anyone else? Maybe it's just an Illinois thing, or even an I-88 thing. Or maybe the truck is having an identity crisis and can't decide whether it's a bus or not. I don't know. It's really annoying though.
When driving on the interstate the adaptive cruise control sees the regular speed limit sign and speeds up to 70, then a short while later sees the Busses speed limit sign and slows back down to 65. For a while I thought it was really neat that the truck recognized the signs rather than using a pre-populated database of speed limits, but now that this is happening I wish it just knew that the speed limit is 70mph all along that stretch...

it happend for me all the time driving from Rockford to O’hare. Such a hassel. But nowhere else did I have any issues with it. For me it was definitely an I-88 thing.
