I noticed on the picture at the bottom that you have a switch to keep outlets on while vehicle is off. I do not have that on my 23 Lariat. How do you get that? The last software update I received was for Blue Cruise 1.4 which I think gets me up to date.
2025 Flash, it came that way.

So does that work for the outlets on the bed? Does that mean if you had an automatic lockout transfer switch you could plug your truck in and if you had a power outage it would switch over?

Keeps all of the outlets on. I do have an ATS already that controls my whole home gen otherwise I would have it set up for automatic use. For now I simply plug the shore power cable into the 240 outlet in the bed.

My power went out within a week of installing my Generac transfer switch. I was pumped. The power hasn't gone out since. ☹
inquiring minds want to know where the power goes out… Does it do a power trip? Hit a dive bar till its lights out? Down the Everclear until complete blackout?

That feature was introduced with the 2024 model year. No one has reported an OTA or FDRS update that enables it on older trucks unfortunately.

With that said, when that toggle is on, the outlets will turn off if the load drops below 100 watts for about 6-10 minutes. Does not occur if the truck is on though.

I keep a 120v load timer plugged in with a small 200W personal heater plugged into it. I set it to turn on for 2secs every 5 mins.

Keeps pro power alive to run my dash cams in surveillance mode.

The heater is on so briefly it never gets hot. Works great.

I’ve used mine a few times, via a simple generator transfer switch and generator plug. (I had to jury rig the neutral to get around the Truck GFI)
I spent more time installing that hardware than actually using it. Oh well, it's there just-in-case.

At least you have that feature instead of always having to turn on the truck and turn off the auto headlights, Auto wipers, seat heating/cooling, Steering wheel heater, AC/ heater and anything else you have set up each time the power goes out and then have to go back and reset everything back to the way you had it afterwards.

Yes, indeed.

After hurricane Isabel hit here in 2003, I convinced my wife we should buy a generator - it took a few years - so I bought a gasoline generator (unbonded) and transfer switch (not neutral switching) in 2011.

I got to use it about 1 year later in 2012 when a derecho passed through and brought down trees, including one on my wife's pottery shed, in seconds - ran the generator for several days. We also had the remnants of hurricane Sandy that year and that lasted several days as well.

If you are wondering how I got that magnolia tree off the roof, the answer is by very carefully cutting a few feet off one end, then the other until I could roll the rest off the back of the shed.

Another time I used it for a ice storm that brought down power wires in Jan 2014 I believe, that only lasted about 8 hours but it was below 10F outside so being able to run the furnace fan, coffee pot and microwave came in handy. Nothing like starting a gasoline generator on a dark January morning at below 10 degrees before having a cup of coffee!

It'll be much nicer/easier to use the Lightning.

Not sure what you mean by "jury rig" of the neutral, hopefully it is 'safe.'

A few of us have installed GENERAC 6853 Home Link transfer switches (under $400) which requires no jury rigging of neutrals or grounds when using with a bonded generator source (like the Lightning PPOB).

That would be the cat's meow if it was a whole home solution.

The N-G bond issue is remediated by bringing a G wire into the generator receptacle box, bonding the box, but not landing the G wire into the receptacle prongs.

If I follow the above, it sound like then there is no continuous ground from the circuits being powered in the house back to the truck via the receptacle prongs? Essentially, that is disconnecting the truck/source ground from the house ground.

A ground connection back to the power source (in this case the truck) is a safety measure when powering dwelling branch circuits, but it sound like this is not present in the setup described, if I understand what is being described.

The video mentions the NEC sections that apply I believe.
