After massive storms in Kansas this week, we’ve been without power since about 9pm on Monday. Our local airport recorded a 115mph wind gust with no tornado, just straight line winds. Massive tree and power grid damage abound. Over 200 poles in the area are in need of replacement.

Shortly after the power dropped out, I dug out the extension cords and started plugging things in. Since Monday evening my Lightning, with only the 2.4kW PPO, has been running our fridge, deep freeze, a small window A/C unit, and multiple fans without breaking a sweat. Battery has gone from 80 to 62%.

Thanks, @Ford Motor Company. Hope to see the Lightning back true to form soon.

Glad you're safe. I can't say I've ever been to Kansas, but that's some storm.

Wow! That's some gnarly gusts. It's amazing what can be powered in an emergency from our vehicles. Imagine if 2kW AC output was standard on every EV.

I hope they get things repaired soon for you. Are there any DCFC options within range you could use to top up if needed?

Damn, that's some hellacious wind for no storm cell. When I bought my truck one key factor was the ability to power the home, living in hurricane alley as I do, I'm very familiar with power outages lol.

Oh, there was very much a storm cell, it just brought a ton of wind with it.

Thank you. On a side note, thanks a lot for your BedRug install video! Put mine in today and went pretty smooth. Just lots of extra work with all of the bits and bobs in the Lightning's bed.

There are. Truck is still at 56%, so not quite at that point yet, but the power is still out.

We had the opposite kind of storm (ice) and was glad to have the option of using PPO as well to keep heaters running, and of course the coffee made ;)

Had a recent power outage, no weather issues. Woke up to dead silence except for our neighbor's Generac running. Darn those are noisy.

We have an on-demand gas fired water heater and so ran an extension cord to the basement and the wife and I were able to take nice hot showers. Second cord to the kitchen and we had hot water for morning coffee.

Before I had to worry about the fridge and freezer the power came back on.

Yes, all EVs should be able to send power, either through plugs or back out the port.

Still powering away. Lightning is still at 44%, but it looks like the repair crews are finally getting to our area. Fingers crossed we’ll have power later today.

Fingers crossed. It's amazing what you learn when you have to make do with limited wattage. I survived Irene in 2011 with a little 1500 watt 1970s era Briggs motor mounted via springs to a piece of plywood attached to a generator head. My local VFD made it, and donated it to my father in the 90s. Then we "upgraded" to a whistler 3000 watt 12v not-quite-pure sine wave inverter attached to our vehicles via jumper cables for Sandy in 2012. After that I got the interlock and Predator 8750 watt inverter. Haven't really needed that much since installed, but have connected my small battery/inverter setup to it, and run the Predator every month or so to be safe. I've got a 120v Y-adapter pigtail (sans ground when using the truck) to split 120v input to both legs of my panel. The truck with only 2.4kw PPOB runs what I truly need in an emergency. If we ever get a 2 or more day outage, that Predator will give us the wants back!
