Hey guys,

Been lurking for a while at a lot of the different posts. One thing I couldn’t find a definitive answer for.

What are your favorite 20” Off-Road style tires for the Lightning?

Looking for the best tire that has the least amount of road noise. But has the off-road styling for the 5% of time it actually goes off road. Mainly a daily driver.

I’m ok losing a little bit of range.

looking for 20’s or possibly 18’s. Unsure on the best looking sizes.

Please post pics if you have any!

I think you will find (and see) a plethora of opinions. It may be best to declare what size tire you are looking to apply to your vehicle first. If normal OEM size (not going larger) this will have more options, for example.

There is no set answer.

Popular options like the BFG KO3s are well like here just as they are for the ice trucks, but expect a moderate loss in range.

Other options like the Toyo at3 EV or the Pirelli XTM Elect are also well liked and should have less range loss.

Ultimately aside from the potential benefits of the very limited EV specific options there are as many opinions on the best tire for the lightning as there are for any other vehicle.

Now, my opinion. The toyo at3 ev and pirelli xtm elect look like fantastic options. Just know that both have limited sizing and neither have long term reviews. I particularly like the Pirelli but it is BRAND new and could turn out to be a terrible tire once 10k miles are on it (like other pirellis have done). I will likely be putting the XTM on my truck, I just hope there is sizing for the elect version when the time comes because otherwise I'm just using the non-EV version.

I do quite a bit of off roading in my Lightning. I have the Toyo Open country AT 3’s EV. They are really great in all weather and off road. The road noise is negligible. They have never let me down.

If you have hts tires now, going to at tires will produce a noticeable increase in road noise and range reduction. I just put on rovelo ridgetrak-at-2 tires in the LT 20" version and so far noise is less than the falken wildpeaks I had previous but there is a substantial increase in unsprung weight. Some range loss from that but they handle great.

With some AT tires I would agree. But the Toyo’s have very little road noise and range loss in my case went from 2.4/kwh to 2.3/kwh which is minimal.

I've been looking at AT Tires and someone recommended Recon Grappler A/T tires

12k miles on Bridgestone Dueler Ascent A/T. Same all around performance as my stock Grabbers but with better curb appeal. I really like the Toyo AT3 EV, but they're a bit more pricey. I think the Toyo have better off road performance though.

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss have been great for me for over a year on my Lariat; just bough 2 more sets, one for my own rig and one set for hers, they are worth it. Good wear, great traction, good looks, not an unknown Chinese name, and good in rain and snow which is the key factor for us here in the PNW. Highly recommended, tire.
