The next generation F-150 Lightning will be an EREV.

Extended-range electric vehicles will deliver the electric experience that customers love – 100% electric power delivery, sub-5-second acceleration – and adds 700+ mile range with locomotive- like towing capability. It also has an on-board gas-powered generator which can charge the battery.
Do you know where the onboard generator will be located? And will there be a setting to be able to drive in pure EV mode with the generator turned off, which lets drivers choose when they need it or not?

Well listing a communist country doesn't hold weight to your argument.
Your comment holds no weight, the fact is China is kicking the US butt 9 ways to Sunday. The US answer is to put a tariff on China to stop the competition. What a great idea but what else to expect from a Federal incompetent body of minds.

Questions:
  • Do you know the battery Size/range on this?
  • How often the ICE engine needs oil change?
  • And how the emission test rules apply to this setup?

I don't think Ford understands what Lightning owners want.......no gas, no oil, starting vehicle in a CLOSED garage, no engine noise, no maintenance on an engine! For me, I have driven my truck in to warehouses to do work because there is no risk from carbon monoxide. I pull on to very expensive stamped driveways because there is no risk for oil leaking. I don't want to change oil. I don't want a head gasket issue or other emissions/firing issues associated with an engine. I drive over 300 miles in a day about twice a year. Unfortunately if my 2022 OG Lariat doesn't last long enough before Ford realizes their mistake, the GMC will be my next EV.
In my discussions with MANY gas truck owners, I didn't see very many saying oh yes, I want to add batteries to my engine. Batteries are their concern. They'll continue with their gas powered trucks. And EV owners will find another EV solution.

Completly missing the point. China is going to own the future in EV's renewable energy and energy independence because the government is is investing in the future. Our gov't is trying to return to the past.

Any reason why not a shift to upcoming solid state batteries? Half the weight or twice the range with faster charging.

Well let’s hope Scout is successful. That may be my next vehicle.
Funny you mention that, I was thinking the same thing and was on their site a couple hours ago signing up for email updates. Their pickup model is said to offer (at least as written now) either a BEV or en EREV... and I don't want no EREV, give me more battery and less components.

Of course its happening, but the people don't have a choice. You choose, want a "free market" or a "dictated market".
Can I choose a regulated market where government power is used to protect citizens from the negative externalities of corporate actions.

I am not sure what to say other than Mr. Farley appears to be a very weak leader, who has been unable to improve vehicle quality, and who flips flops strategy and execution in response to the slightest shift in the direction of the wind.

Most obvious is how he choreographs his future failures now so he doesn’t have to take accountability later - instead he can point the finger. I have been listening to him for three years now, and he does a brilliant job of preparing everyone for upcoming failure [ “Chinese car companies are better”, “we are being forced to make non-gas cars”]

It was Ford’s decision years ago to stop making affordable cars (EVs were barely on the radar).

It was Ford’s decision to globalize supply chain, and in the case of aluminum, to be practically sole sourced.

It was Ford’s decision to announce a $40k Lightning and then sell only builds at $70k and up for a long time.

You mean like what us libtards want, a government that works for everyone ... It looks like that ain't happening!

Althought I would like to take America back to the good ol' days when the extremely wealthy paid high taxes or setup foundations or universities etc etc but there's too much money in the system now.

Ford has already sold a truck to Lightning owners. Their target is for those that did not buy a lightning.

If they get something like CATL’s Naxtra sodium battery in there, with 10,000 cycle life and 100% SOC charging, and do joint development with Toyota to get reliability under control, you may still be able to have the gas engine off for most of it's life. I am still in EV only camp.

Great questions. I will find answers (if I can) and get back to the group.
