Love my “Collector Edition”
$250k truck that Ford sold me for under $70k with incentives (my first one was just over $100k and at that time it was a very good deal also) So…Feels like “Winning” to me and that’s my take. Feels good winning this kind of a deal every day to me. I’m thankful for Ford being a pioneer—-being an early adopter is not for the faint of heart in anything..!!

Ridgeline

Had a 2009, used to be the best truck I ever owned until I got my lightning!

The ridgeline was also essentially cancelled. The new generation is only in name, it got smaller and less robust, nothing like the originals. When honda announced the new variant i was excited for the possibilities. When it came out I immediately went to the dealer to check it out. Took all of 2 minutes to look inside and underneath(I lay down and stuck my head under right in the showroom) and realize it was an anemic grocery getter.

This is nothing. They only ever made about 2300 total units of my Cadillac ELR before getting cancelled. Nobody has ever pulled up beside me and laughed and if they tried, I would just laugh back and say sorry you are driving a piece of junk.

Everyone I show my Lightning to is beyond impressed. I don't expect that to change. in fact, I expect that to increase as people will now be less exposed to them. I was doing what Ford and its dealers failed to do. I convinced countless people that said no way they would buy an EV truck to saying their next truck will be a lightning. Too bad Ford won't reap the rewards of those sales as apparently they weren't aware these major transitions take time.

I am not embarrassed of my lightning. I know I am driving the best truck Ford has and ever will make. I will be laughing at all the EREV owners as they find out what EREV is really all about. The only part that bothers me about the cancelled lightning is that I've always loved my Ford trucks and know that my next truck won't be a Ford. I am BEV only from this point on.

This morning on my way to work, I was stopped at a light and a Rivian pulled up next to me. He looked over and had a stupid grin on his face. Normally I am proud to drive the Lightning, but the truth be told, I felt a little wave of embarrassment flood over me. Like I was driving a flop of a car. He turned right and I went straight.

Got me thinking, Americans tend to live through their cars. Got money, drive a luxury, off-roader a 4X4, adventurous a sports car...... What are you when you drive a cancelled car??

I feel like a winner for buying my Lightning before they aren't available to buy. Many vehicle models end production, and change designs. Something else will fill the void, but it will be different.

I feel sorry for all the guys who wanted a BEV Lightning and kept putting off buying one until their financial situation got better or for some other reason. You only live once. Be good to yourself, and buy yourself a nice toy if you can afford it. Especially if you are retired. Don't be afraid of the used Lightnings. You'll love it.
