how come diesel is $1 a gallon more at Love’s?
Good question. I'll take a look the next time I drive that way on the opposite side of town. Their pumps are situated like convenience stores so semi trucks couldn't get in there. I never heard of it but I will look at the diesel pump and see what the small sticker says. Makes me wonder if they are mixing ethanol or gas or something into their auto diesel.

The gas pumps have a small sticker that says 30% ethanol way down below that is hard (almost impossible) to see and those stations have a special metering system that meters it in at the pump from the ethanol tanks. The gas from the refinery goes straight into gas tanks.

A lot of people buy gas there. I bot gas there for a while with no ill effects but it is a 10 minute drive away so I quit doing it. The local car stealerships used it as a scapegoat for any one of a thousand problems instead of being a warranty issue of course.

Seems like I read something about getting less mileage per gallon with more ethanol even though it increases the octane rating.

Sorry, but it reminds me too much of the Avalanche, which IMO was hideous.
Rather have the ICE avalanche. Too much going on with that Chevy. The sierra EV looks much better

I would just go cybertruck at this point if people are really afraid of legacy Autos discontinuing the EV truck platforms.

Yeah but the guys on a chevy forum can't be near as nice as the guys on a ford forum!! :)
It’s been fun but picked this up today and traded in my Lightning. Got a great deal I couldn’t pass up and didn’t want to deal with trying to trade the Lightning in a few years and taking an even bigger bath. One of five ‘26 Silverado EV Max Ranges left in stock in DFW.

looking forward for my drive to Houston on Saturday and not having to stop and charge!

Wow, you did it! Lol

Looking forward to your impressions after your trip.
Pushing 500 Mile range is nuts-

Yeah I went over and checked out their forum and think this one is way better! I’ll still be lurking around!

First impressions is Ford was much better with storage options, the Chevy has smaller center console with no tray, less back seat storage (underneath), smaller frunk with no sub frunk. But the Chevy’s touchscreen is so much better, much more responsive! Also like that the panoramic roof doesn’t open so don’t have to worry about leaks!

Driving impressions so far compared to our L's?
How"s that acceleration?

Provide a method for optional frunk ventilation (air intake, air exhaust)
This already exists, ask whoever it was griping about dust in the battery compartment last week. The real problem would be cooling a generator that was in the frunk.
Makes me wonder if they are mixing ethanol or gas or something into their auto diesel.
Not 100% sure but I don't think you can add ethanol to diesel, but considering you can add vegetable oils basically 1:1 I'm not sure why you'd want to.
Seems like I read something about getting less mileage per gallon with more ethanol even though it increases the octane rating.
Ethanol has a higher knock rating than gasoline (spontaneous ignition under compression) but a lower energy density per unit volume (KJ/L). I could google the actual numbers but I seem to remember it being 80-85% of its gasoline equivalent. I did the math a long time ago and iirc 10% ethanol worked out to something like 92-95% energy of no ethanol. Pretty much rounding errors. The only real issues are fuel system corrosion in incompatible cars, I think it was brass (or was that the fix?) and food prices due to feed and farmland.

I live in the south and you'd swear Tesla sells as many cars as Ford sells F150s. They're everywhere!

Here’s the market 2024. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to equate less costly gas geography with ICE dominance. And BEVs with lest costly power? that’s less clear but for sure where we live.

You just reminded me. I'm going to take my worx leaf blower out there and see if I can blow the dust back out of my battery compartment. Will let you know later if it works/worx.

Agree. It’s either a truck/tahoe/suburban or a Tesla.

The worx leaf blower was just so so on loose dust but I didn't have much. There is just a fine bit of dust stuck to the battery that I was going to finish off with the air compressor but I couldn't find my blow gun at the time. So dust in battery and heat pump and a/c area is just another maintenance item to keep an eye on.

I have been VERY tempted to do the same. The Silverado EV has greater range, charges much faster and has some other features that I really like, like the column shifter and the pass through rear seat. But the Lightning is 3,000 lbs lighter, has faster acceleration, is more efficient and costs less.

I still had a Silverado EV reservation when I picked up my Lightning. I cashed out my reservation for the Silverado EV when it came due because for me the scales tipped in favor of the Lightning. Even now with having a travel trailer that I pull with the Lightning, I only see the benefits of the Silverado EV as marginal and I just can’t just can’t justify the cost of moving into a Silverado EV.

I do hope the Silverado EV stays in production and Chevrolet doesn’t cave into market demands to eliminate the BEV version the way Ford did. Both the Silverado EV and the Lightning could and should be a lot better. I hope the Silverado EV will continue to evolve and that Ford will be forced to compete.

The loss of the tax credit seems to have evicerated EV demand. I hope this is a temporary setback. There is too much investment in EV and renewable energy and too much riding on it.

If the current climate changes (hopefully as soon as next year), there will be a renewed push into EV & renewable energy. It just makes too much sense.
