So, I'm working on a plan for a road trip in early June that I'll share in a bit. The last time we travelled there were many hotels that had 120v plugs for block heaters and I wanted to charge but I didn't want someone to take my Grizzl-e mini charger.

Today, I found that I could run an extension cord and the charging cable through the frunk, out the LVB battery cover and out the front wheel well, and close the frunk to secure things. It worked!

The extension cord plugged into the level 1 outlet and the charge cable plugged in to the charge port.

Has anyone else done this?

Good trick! I really wish there was a L1 charger built in with a simple 120v male end behind the charge door.

I was looking at options to run an extension cord to the bed, etc...but hopefully we'll find some decent level 2 chargers at some of the places we stay.

Is it worth the trouble? Level 1 charging, depending on the temp, you can watch glaciers move faster.

I'm assuming you're staying at the same hotel multiple days?

Yes, we should be at one hotel for about 36-48 hrs .. but again, I hope most have level 2 chargers.

I put everything in the bed and tan the cords out between the tonneau cover seal and tailgate.

12hrs = 13.2kWh.

Battery stays at 32F instead of 10F.

80% at fast charger the night prior becomes 90%.

How did you get the connection from the bed to the frunk/charging port?

we were staying at a condo and after a few days had a full load to get back home. Level 1 can come in handy. 2 miles and hour 🤣

I ran the cord out the back, then over the corner of the tonneau and along the truck to the charging port. Zoom in on the picture and you can see it.

I just wish the charge port locked on the L1/L2 chargers instead of only L3. Such a strange thing to cheap out on, just like the charge port door not locking. Put outlets and inverters everywhere, but as save a few cents on some plastic locking parts.

If you use a Tesla Destination Charger, and the A2Z Stellar adapter, it has a built-in lock.
