Tesla home charging and and Level 1 problems

Hey guys, has anyone had problems trying to charge at someone’s Tesla home charger? It always rejects them for me. Also level 1 chargers sometimes won’t work for me either which has left me in a bind a handful of times

I've heard the adapter we get with these trucks is for dc charging only, an at home charger would be ac requiring a different adapter. @RickLightning mentioned it iirc.

A level 1 charger is 120v. Why are you charging at them, you get 1.1kW per hour?

A Tesla Home Charger requires an adapter, which is not the same adapter as a Tesla SuperCharger.

Tesla SuperCharger adapter by A2Z. Top quality. Typhoon Pro.

Tesla Destination charger adapter by A2Z. Stellar adapter. Even then, some Tesla Destination chargers may be set to Tesla only, and the owner has to change that setting.

Yeah, the adapter Ford provided (and most folks have) is NACS->CCS. Our trucks do *not* AC charge using CCS (J1772 connector+two bonus DC pins), they AC charge using J1772.

So you need both the:
- NACS -> CCS adapter (DCFC)
- NACS -> J1772 adapter (AC L1/L2)
if you want destination or home chargers from Tesla to work.

I have two level II a/c EVSEs set up at home, ChargePoint and a Tesla Universal. The Tesla Universal comes with both the J1772 and NACS. The Tesla EVSE works great when needed to charge the Lightening.

1. Load the Tesla app on your phone. It's free.
2. Put your configuration (i.e., Ford Lightning) into the app.
3. Only attempt to use the Adapter that Ford gave you at Tesla stations which the app says are for your use.

OP is trying to charge on someone else's Tesla Destination charger, which isn't universal...

1. Load the Tesla app on your phone. It's free.

That's for Tesla SuperChargers, not Tesla Destination chargers...

At least that's the way I've configured the Tesla app. Out-of-the-box, the app shows destination chargers (and Super Chargers we are not allowed to use.) But I have the app configured to only show the chargers valid for my Llightning.

I charge at home using a Tesla charger. You need a special AC charging adapter to charge at home. I use an A to Z adapter. Another issue you may have is if the owner of the charger has a time set that the charger turns on. Mine was set to charge from 2:00 am to 8:00 am so anyone trying to charge at other times would not be able to.

What Tesla adapter are you using?
Need a L2 one - the L3 DC adapter Ford provides is for DC fast charging only.
Even with the right L2 adapter there were some changes to Tesla EVSE over the years, and I suppose it is possible an older one would not be fully compatible with L2 (J1772) protocols - just speculating.

The Ford Mobile Power Cord has a 120V dongle (adapter) is that the L1 you are having issues with?
The FMPC has had a bad record of failures, often because the dongle is not fully seated.
