Thanks, I love how smooth the rolling is and how it can lock midway.
It does take some space but I have enough clearance on the lower portion to carry longer items.
Any tips on fixing water infiltration from the sides?
I have followed the instructions but perhaps I have missed something.

Bed cap is the best option if you don't need to carry anything that extends over the cab. I've tried a few options including a hard rolling without tracks, Retrax XR with yakima overhaul towers+HD bars, and a smartcap.

Retrax with the yakmia system was by far the worst as it had the same limitations of a cap but with less than half the usable space as a cap and worse aero effects due to drag of the rack. It was also only 90% water tight compared to 99.9% of the cap. You can still mount racks above the cap for the best of both worlds.

The cap increased my efficiency by 0.1 m/kwh compared to the tonneau and bed rack setup.

First off, I want to say that no cover is going to be 100% water tight, but there are some things that you can do to ensure your cover is as water tight as possible. The best way to troubleshoot is to contact us directly so that we can help walk you through it, but I'll put up some suggestions for those who may find this post later. In my experience, excessive water intrusion on these covers can be caused by a number of factors, so I'll cover some of the most common.
1. The rails are completely level and not slightly pitched up. When I set the clamps on these rails, I like to make sure the rails are on about a 2 degree pitch so that gravity draws water away from the bed opening. The inside edge of the rail is raised to help keep water from dripping into the bed, but a slight pitch helps tremendously, especially when there's a heavier rain and a more than normal amount of water is evacuating off the cover.
2. The cover is not adjusted properly side to side. When the cover is rolling forward and backward in the rails, you should not have more than 1/8" side to side play anywhere along the rails. That can be adjusted by loosening the clamps and adjusting the white adjustment screws on either side of each clamp. The instruction sheet shows how to do that, but you can always reach out to us for assistance as well.
3. The rails are raised. When the cover is installed, the rails need to be flat against the bed caps to create the best seal.
4. The cover is not adjusted square. This can create all sorts of issues like binding as it rolls open and closed, as well as leak issues.
5. Sealant is your friend. The factory installed seals on the cover will help to keep the majority of all moisture away from your cargo area, but things like silicone sealant, butyl tape, and a strategically installed tailgate seal can do a great job as a supplement.

I am in a warm climate, but I have used it partially open laying on top of whatever I am hauling without issue. Did not flap around for me, but I like that the back window is uncovered when fully rolled up.

I'm quite curious about this. How do you exactly keep it partially open? Say if you have a few 2x4 in the bed sticking out over the tailgate, the 2x4 prevent it from unrolling? (driving slow i imagine?)

I just roll it out over the 2x4and it does not lock in place, but it stays flat for me. I was worried about it flapping, but never have had an issue.

1) Most tonneau covers have a rubber seal on the edges. The Diamondback has a thick rubber compression seal. Not even remotely like any other on the market that I have seen. Even then, no cover is totally waterproof, but it comes close.

That's completely fair, Rick. We definitely have a big family of brands these days, but we're still made up of a lot of passionate teams that genuinely care about the products we sell and the customers we help. We appreciate you giving us a look regardless!


And I agree with you on the DiamondBack seal. No tonneau cover is 100% waterproof, but DiamondBack does have a good compression seal design.

Just bought the Leer HF650M (hard quad fold). It gets solid feedback overall, but the deciding factor was the heavily discounted price. $399 (link here). All of their tonneau covers were heavily discounted as well.

Got the Extang Trifecta Signature 2.0 Soft Folding Tonneau Cover from Realtruck. Personally, I believe $ for $ its the best bang for the book. Has a feel like the premium dust-proof Jeep soft roofs, is *mostly* water resistant, and is easy to take on and off.

Had one on 2018 Lariat w/ 3.5L (should have kept it), then on 2024 GMC Sierra long bed, and now another on my 2025 Lightning.

Would I take it through the touchless carwash? No.
Would I put some suitcases and other items on top of a flat tarp in the back and drive 200 miles in the pouring rain? Yep.

Pros:
- less than 400usd
- tail light and camera work when propped up
- cant slam it into the rear window
- seals are pretty good other than the tailgate for which you need a separate seal kit for any of them afaik (its still fine, but not perfect)
- pretty easy to use, its a little heavy but not bad. latches seem solid.

cons:
- lol instructions. youd think its a 10min fix to have a proper pdf or printed page.. they dont even tell you where the attachements go. but you can figure it out. it would just be way faster with real instructions. the video isnt even for the latest model.
- it takes a bit of messing around to align well
