Think of it this way. You know how BlueCruise only works on certain highways/freeways and not on most regular roads. You can still turn on the adaptive cruise control on the non BlueCruise roads and still use the regular cruise control. That’s what happens when your subscription expires. All roads become non BlueCruise but you can still use the basic adaptive cruise control. Want to know what you will have after the subscription? Use the function on a non BlueCruise road. That’s what you will be left with.

Not directly related to the main post, but does anyone have any tips and tricks on hand placement so I stop getting yelled at….
I was trying different things to get rid of the annoying prompts, thinking Ford used proximity sensors in the steering wheel like I've experienced with some other makes.

Then I heard Ford used torque sensing to see if you're still alive. Occasionally, you need to turn the steering wheel just enough for it to know you're there.

This can still be annoying on long straight stretches of road when your vehicle's alignment is good since there's no reason to apply any torque on the steering wheel.

Yep, where I drive there is hardly any ‘mapped’ pavement. So I just pull down on one side every 15 seconds to avoid the nanny.

I did use BC lane change last week, pretty cool and worked well. But I-5 through Seattle has too much traffic to be comfortable not having my hands near the steering wheel. And I’m not comfortable with the ‘drop out’ of either BC or un-bc, a little beep and it disconnects. Good thing I was paying attention that it stopped BC or just lane-centering.

That was kinda a non-answer. That answer would imply that not having a BlueCruise subscription means that everything still functions (including hands on self driving) except hands free self driving. I find that one a bit hard to believe. Is that really the case?
That is the answer. You also lose automatic lane change if you had it. I honestly don’t get who at ford justices the $50 a month cost.

I assume the vehicle will not stop on it’s own after expiration. Just plain old cruise control. Funny that it would keep lane centering. Thats the only thing I will really miss.

Based on the answers, it's an insane price for what you are paying for! I will let it die at the end of the subscription.

I did try the auto lane change yesterday for the first time and it did work. However it was an easy test as I turned on the turn signal when there were no conflicts.

You would be wrong. It will come to a stop as traffic slows just fine.

It simply loses HANDSFREE.

I'm still amazed at BC 1.4.
I love it. After my shoulder reconstruction, it was a lifesaver.
I'm really working toward getting better and better at some specific tweaks, and on-the-fly shifting following-distances for specific circumstances. I used it often.
I think that feature is an unlock for smoother lane changes, traffic jam navigation, and other stuff. It's like four different modes depending on the circumstances.

LOTS of vehicle owners (e.g., 2024 with the 90-day) had BC and did not renew. This is not a guessing game for the rest of us.

They lost hands-free driving (including lane change). That's it.
