Think of it this way. You know how BlueCruise only works on certain highways/freeways and not on most regular roads. You can still turn on the adaptive cruise control on the non BlueCruise roads and still use the regular cruise control. That’s what happens when your subscription expires. All roads become non BlueCruise but you can still use the basic adaptive cruise control. Want to know what you will have after the subscription? Use the function on a non BlueCruise road. That’s what you will be left with.

Not directly related to the main post, but does anyone have any tips and tricks on hand placement so I stop getting yelled at….
I was trying different things to get rid of the annoying prompts, thinking Ford used proximity sensors in the steering wheel like I've experienced with some other makes.

Then I heard Ford used torque sensing to see if you're still alive. Occasionally, you need to turn the steering wheel just enough for it to know you're there.

This can still be annoying on long straight stretches of road when your vehicle's alignment is good since there's no reason to apply any torque on the steering wheel.

Yep, where I drive there is hardly any ‘mapped’ pavement. So I just pull down on one side every 15 seconds to avoid the nanny.

I did use BC lane change last week, pretty cool and worked well. But I-5 through Seattle has too much traffic to be comfortable not having my hands near the steering wheel. And I’m not comfortable with the ‘drop out’ of either BC or un-bc, a little beep and it disconnects. Good thing I was paying attention that it stopped BC or just lane-centering.

That was kinda a non-answer. That answer would imply that not having a BlueCruise subscription means that everything still functions (including hands on self driving) except hands free self driving. I find that one a bit hard to believe. Is that really the case?
That is the answer. You also lose automatic lane change if you had it. I honestly don’t get who at ford justices the $50 a month cost.

I assume the vehicle will not stop on it’s own after expiration. Just plain old cruise control. Funny that it would keep lane centering. Thats the only thing I will really miss.

Based on the answers, it's an insane price for what you are paying for! I will let it die at the end of the subscription.

I did try the auto lane change yesterday for the first time and it did work. However it was an easy test as I turned on the turn signal when there were no conflicts.

You would be wrong. It will come to a stop as traffic slows just fine.

It simply loses HANDSFREE.

I'm still amazed at BC 1.4.
I love it. After my shoulder reconstruction, it was a lifesaver.
I'm really working toward getting better and better at some specific tweaks, and on-the-fly shifting following-distances for specific circumstances. I used it often.
I think that feature is an unlock for smoother lane changes, traffic jam navigation, and other stuff. It's like four different modes depending on the circumstances.

LOTS of vehicle owners (e.g., 2024 with the 90-day) had BC and did not renew. This is not a guessing game for the rest of us.

They lost hands-free driving (including lane change). That's it.

Previously, I also chose more important features because I wanted to save money. But a friend told me about https://casinoofthekings.ca/low-deposit-casino/1-deposit/ and now I just take all the options at once, regardless of the price. This is a resource where you can find various reliable casino games. I advise you to try it and then the question of the price of the features will disappear!
Ford’s torque-based system can be slightly frustrating, but periodic wheel nudges usually help prevent those prompts during straight, well-aligned drives!

2023 Ford Escape PHEV
Perhaps this isn't the correct forum for this question since it is about the Mustang Mach E and lane centering. But I assume the same appies to the Lightning. I am considering leasing a Mach E and recently drove one. For reference, I currently own a 2023 Ford Escape PHEV. With the Escape, when I turn on Lane Keeping, I get Lane Centering. When I turned on Lane Keeping on the Mach E, I only got Lane Keeping, not Lane Centering. Is not Lane Centering available on the Mach E unless you subscribe to the Blue Cruise option. Obviously, you get Lane Centering then as a part of the "hands free" driving experience that you get with Blue Cruise.

As a follow up question, If you subscribe to Blue Cruise, do you still have the Lane Centering function when you are not driving "hands free" on a controlled access highway - - but are driving on a highway with defined lane markings?

From someone who just got 1.4 last week and has used it on 3 different road trips.
Basically without paying, you still have Adaptive cruise control and lane centering. But the lane centering requires hand holding every 12 seconds..
So yes, it's hands free for 12 seconds at a time. But for 50.00 you get hands free and lane changing for 95% + of the time.

Like I said in another thread. It impressed my 85yo mom who gave up driving last year due to vision issues. Worst back seat driver to have in the truck. Guess what, she wanted to purchase the truck after her 44 mile trip both ways.

Like I said to Ford. If it's good enough for Momma, it's good enough for all.

By the way, my 24 flash got 1.4 on its 1 year anniversary date. I used 9998 points I believe for the first 30 days.
Will I renew? I dont drive freeways that much. Except these last few days. 87 miles each way, 44 miles each way with Momma and 49 miles each way today. Hasn't missed a beat.

Digging it so far.

I'm in the 90 day trial period. I've found that here in central Kentucky there are very limited roads that BlueCruise works on. The Bluegrass Parkway (70 MPH limited access and four lanes) is one of them. New Circle Road around Lexington is one of them. But I haven't gotten it to successfully work anywhere else.

The adaptive cruise portion of it is flaky. It will slam the brakes if I'm in a curve and another vehicle is slowing in the right turn lane ahead of me (because the geometry of the road puts that turning vehicle directly in front of me for a short time). It will slam the brakes if a vehicle changes lanes WELL ahead of me. It does not seem to be a very "smart" system compared to other brands of trucks I've driven.

So, I won't miss BlueCruise at all when it's gone. But what I'm more concerned about are the phone app functions. Being able to lock/unlock the truck specifically. I really hope that stuff is not on a trial period and will go away soon. I do use those features frequently.

I have had my Lightning for a little under two months and have tried out BlueCruise a few times. It works OK, but I don't entirely trust it. At the insane price Ford charges for it, I do not expect to pay for a subscription once the trial ends. So what I'm wondering is what functions will I lose?

BlueCruise has several basic functions - Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering, and Lane changing (basic list). Do all of those go away without the subscription? I completely assume Lane centering and changing would go away. Does the Adaptive Cruise Control revert to dumb cruise control?

Here's my primary issue with BlueCruise. If I'm in traffic that is moving 65 for example and I see a few hundred yards ahead (or farther) that traffic is radically slowing, I will let off the go pedal. BlueCruse can't see that far ahead and keeps barreling along at 65 until fairly close before having to radically slow down. Will it be able to do so - most likely yes, I generally find that my foot hits the brake before it does. And yes, I have the following distance set to the maximum.
You thinks cost of Blue Cruise is insane, we have 2 Teslas. To get Full Self Driving on both would cost $16,000 or $200/month. That is insane.

Ouch! Last I heard it was $1,000 per year. Guess the raised that price.
