Yes, that part of the Lightning is a drag (literally).
But I wanted to replace my 2001 Ford Ranger with an EV truck, and stop burning gasoline.
The Lightning was in my price range (eventually), the others were not or had other issues like the Cybermuck.
The front could/should have been made streamlined, but most of my driving is below 45 and pushing air has more of an effect at higher speeds - for a truck the drag is generally proportional to the square of the velocity, so they tell me.
I put on a tonneau cover which may reduce the drag somewhat - opinions differ on that though.
That said, the Bronco has a higher drag coefficient (according to testing, not by me) than the F-150.
