You know your stuck with it forever right ? Whether it’s fixed or not it’s a branded title and most ford dealers do not know how to fix them IF they did this probably wouldn’t have been bought back and Theresa no guarantee it’s fixed now . You want to playthat gamble ? The truck is worthless to Ford once you buy it you would literally lose 10-15k if you wanted to trade it .

Theresa is very untrustworthy too.

Good point. If it has any negative remarks on the title or if this work is on the Carfax it's going to be hard to finance, sell, trade etc.

Devil's advocate: a buyback on a branded title becomes less an issue as time passes. It's not like an accident where you don't know if the frame is straight. For instance, if you go three years without issue, chances are you'll never have another issue. There will still be a branded title hit on value but not like a mechanically totaled vehicle.

Thanks for the thoughts and advice. I'm going to take my time and make sure I find the one that isn't going to be a problem.

I don't need a car or truck, I already have 3 cars and 1 large SUV.

The Lightning is more of a neat toy I want, with the whole house backup, charge from my solar panels, etc. I also want to try not only the Blue Cruise, but the Comma AI driving assist, which supposedly is compatible with it.

The best I could find for a 22 F150 511A with 36K miles was $43K (out of the door) so about 39K before taxes and fees. Came with an extra year bumper to bumper warranty and 14 days return period to "try it out".

So it is a good price if it works!

If it comes with the 14 day return period, you may want to give it a go. Insist they update EVERY computer module before you will take it. Once it's yours, they are a lot less inclined to be helpful.

It is a great truck, but the software sucks. You can look up my posts to see what my first month issues have been.

The software is every bit as important as the hardware.. and it is not at all flexible.

There's only about 4-5 banks that do it (they'll be available at the dealer most likely) and the interest rates are much higher. None of my local credit unions wanted to touch it.

My credit union didn't care, they treated it like any other car purchase. Wasn't even a member when I found the car, they set me up just to write the loan.

That's great that it worked for you! Here in Virginia, none of the banks/credit unions wanted to do it. At Capital Ford in Charlotte they had 4-5 banks who were willing to finance but that was about 3% higher interest rate than what I ultimately got for buying a non-buyback used Lightning.

Just an FYI, my first F150L that was a lemon and bought back, it was built in a similar period. It had two HVB's that were bad and it was an SR. HVB's went bad at different times so I would recommend getting a very good scanner so you can monitor the various cells.
