I'm not aware that Ford specifically blocks vehicles from OTA updates, even after a large number of failures. However, I am aware of vehicles that stop attempting a particular update after too many failures, or that get "stuck" for whatever reason after an update fails and do not attempt future updates.
The chance of this happening is extremely rare. Even then, it would have to be an update to one of the Sync related modules where the data gets screwed up and creates a bottleneck for future updates. In the case of a failed BCM update, there would not be any "block" on the server side for future updates. If the original OTA failed due to the state of the 12v battery (which is what causes 99% of OTAs to fail), then it is just a matter of it being resent. Those of us that have been around the forums for a while know this can take weeks or even months to happen.

We also know that chasing OTA's by calling Ford rarely gets you any results.

@justalightninguser1 Welcome to the forum and welcome to the world of connected vehicles and the OTA process. The update(s) for fully functional WAL you are chasing have been talked about on this and the Mach E forums for a long time. Not being able to get an update at will is not a Ford thing; this is just the way it works. You can argue that it should not be like this, and many people (including myself) will agree with you. However, the grass is not greener on the other side with other manufeacturers. That I know of, the only brand that allows you to update something as soon as an update becomes available is Tesla. With all legacy brands, you get what you get when you get it.

I do agree with you on the fact that the dealer should not have taken any money from you if they did not update the BCM when you had it there. That is BS.

My app says the software for the recall is available so I called the Ford dealer when I got the notice.

Long story short after mobile service appointment was made, the dealer called and said the software available is for the Maverick Hybrid not the lightning and they would call and reschedule my mobile service once software was available for the Lightning.

Just got the same run-around with my local dealer - had mobile service for '24 mach-e and both lightnings. Guy called back this morning and said no-go as of yet. Still shows in Fordpass app

Same here I dropped my truck off at dealer yesterday as the app had initially indicated recall fix was not available then it changed to available so I set the appointment. But once I got to the dealer my tech new right away it was only available for the maverick hybrid as others have indicated. I hope the repair comes soon as my drive way is tilted towards the house and don't need truck sliding into my house unintentionally.

Since I was already at dealer and had planned to leave the truck I asked them to check the 12v battery and charge it up since I'm still under warranty.

Seems strange tho since it mentions software fix not hardware issue I would think they could do a better job updating their system to indicate the vehicles better.

Good luck. My 22 is stuck at 24.5.1 frunk closing update. Not failing but incomplete.
I don't know where to go. Frickin annoying with ford's software.
This truck is an awesome letdown after the hype.
It does what I need it for and more but it's just frustrating when I get in it and see the "incomplete, we'll try again soon"

Then I have to reset all my saved settings.

I finally got this SYNC update (details below) on March 6, 2026, I think it has been around since at least Aug 2025. I have gotten other OTA updates before this arrived, most recently the PT-25.11.4 which erased my charge location info.

So it is somewhat an inscrutable software scheduling situation with Ford OTAs.

SYNC-25.2.1.6.5.2
Disk space enhancements to ensure optimal performance of you vehicles SiriusXM service (if applicable).
Accessory Protocol Interface Module

I am hoping the latest one will fix bluetooth music streaming, but haven't tried it yet.
