A/C coolant leak. Parts on backorder

Hi,

The air conditioner in my new F150 Lighting has a coolant leak. The technician said two parts are needed and is being told they are on back order.

Part Numbers:
NL3Z19A566A - Reservoir. Vacuum. (A/C). Air. Conditioning. Evaporator Core. Refrigerant Liquid Hose.

NL3Z18B402C - A/C Refrigerant Suction Hose


Does anyone in here have experience with this part or this problem? Apparently these parts aren’t available anywhere.

I recall a previous thread, but this problem is not a wide ranging issue, see if search finds something on this node.

Unfortunately your experience is probably a one in a hundred thousand situation, assuming these parts are also used in the ICE F150 I'm surprised it's not available, but if the Lightning version is uncommon, then it's a matter of waiting for the supplier to build up a few repair parts along with regular production for new truck builds.

Apparently Ford just doesn't make enough parts anymore - I'm still waiting on my steering wheel and taillights, from my first visit to the dealer in October!

Oh wow! I just chatted with Ford social media and they opened a case for me. Hopefully that will do something to help.

My 22 Lariet ER has been in the shop for 2 weeks due to coolant leak. Dealer says parts are on back order and Ford hopes to start shipping them around the 18th of March.

My 2023 XLT SR lost AC at the end of last summer. Only four months after delivery. I forgot about it until a month ago when we had a warm day and I tried to put the AC on. I took it in and was told they had to order a special dye that “no one stocks and they don’t have”. I stopped in again this morning to ask and they still have no idea when the dye will arrive. Wondering what else I can do. Try another dealer? Try calling Ford? Idk. At a loss

Yes, 100% try another dealer. Why waste time waiting for them if they aren't going to put any time in to helping you? Find a dealer with a service department that gives a damn, and then name and shame the people who aren't helping you while praising the ones that do. Only way things are going to get better with dealers is if people start publicly calling them out on their BS to the point it impacts their business.

Update. Took it to another dealer and right away they ordered new AC lines. It was done and fixed in a four days. Including waiting for the new lines which took a couple days. Shout out to Causeway Ford in Manahawkin New Jersey

I have the same exact problem. After waiting over a month to get the car looked at, now we know what is but parts won't show up till August. I've already tried finding other dealers to get the part with no luck. Some even let me order online saying it was in stock and then cancelled my order. Ford corporate has been super responsive, but that's not going to keep me or my battery cool all summer, and they won't give me a loaner.

If I can't find the parts myself in the next few days I'm going to just take the loss and trade this thing in. Disappointing considering it's been problem free up to this point.

Hate it when a newbie joins .... post a problem thread ... gets advice and ghosts us on the resolution.

I hate to hear these kind of stories, an esp would have taken care of it all including a rental. Next time perhaps. Ford has a new model ev truck right around the corner that might be of some interest.

That's probably the best advice there is in hindsight. I certainly wouldn't buy another without an ESP.
